SOURCE: Goodman Heat/Air unit Model # A49-20 Serial # 9909502720

It sounds like the blower motor has burnt up.(the one inside) The unit running for a few minutes then shutting off, is due to the high pressure/temperature safeties. When you removed the panels, did you notice any fan running?

SOURCE: bad smell from ac unit in my house

does it smell like literally , dirty socks?if so it is dirty sock syndrome, a plague of heat pumps for years. if it smells like an electrical melting or burning of wires then time to call a pro.it could be a weak capacitor or a weak fan motor. if it is dirty sock syndrome then its the microbes that thrive when temps are middle temps and reproduce when temps are hot and cold in intermittent days. hot one day and cold the next equals call for cool then call for heat and hot steam from heated coils cause s bacteria to grow and microbes to spread across coil. when you switch back it causes the smell.if the coil is clean you can spend a chunk of money on sanitizers but best bet is to run it cool for hot weather and hot for cool weather. the transitional periods are what create the smell. avoid semi cool and semi hot periods. this condition is common to acs from all brands . lots of stuff on the internet about dirty sock syndrome

SOURCE: error code of 6 flashing light on circuit board,

There appears to be a short in the unit. Not sure where. The power to the fan is not interrupted completly when the fan shuts down, still feeding voltage to the fan, keeping it running slow. Before checking the wiring, please turn off power first.

My petacs are ge units with the heat pump. the blower is running all the time .I unplugged the unit to reset it . is there a way to reset the blower so it will cycle properly, .

That is usually a setting on your thermostat. Look for a fan switch/setting, and it should have options for always on, auto, and off. It should be set to auto.

Tip

When the furnace blower runs all the time.

Usually when the furnace blower motor runs all the time
The limit switch or rollout switch is usually open or bad.
The furnace board is seeing that one of those switches is open, so it brings the blower on to try to get the heat out of the combustion chamber area, so the switch will close. But if the switch is bad and won’t close, the furnace board will keep the blower running continuously.
Make sure the fan switch on the thermostat is not in the "ON" position it should be in the "AUTO" position.

2002 4 ton Bryant air conditioner shuts off, fan still runs but not cooling is problem in the controls in the attic or in the AC unit or both?

With a non heat pump it is a simple 24 volt AC control circuit. In the attic there is a relay that is actuated via the fan control wire directly from the thermostat. On the thermostat there is an auto/man switch that controls the fan. Manual the fan runs all the time. Auto fan turns on and off with the outside compressor.

If the system is not calling for cool and the fan continues to run the fan relay is sticking. common problem. Sometimes after running for several days the relay will stop sticking if not, replace relay.

If the system is calling for cool and the compressor stops I would still expect the fan to run until thermostat tells the A/C to off. Some compressor units include a safety switch or high-pressure cut-out switch A blocked internal valve bad control board or external fan in outside unit defective no air flow in outside unit.
High pressure cut out not good,

Suggest turning temp max cool and observe. If acceptable cool and the compressor runs without interruption all is good, except for the blower in the attic. Safely check relay in attic blower circuit.

Hope this helps.

My blower motor wont turn off in my furnance?

check the fan setting on your thermostat. On means always on, auto/int means only comes on during heating/cooling. if the thermostat is set to auto / int and the fan keeps running? you may have a bad fan relay switch. It may be integral on the primary control board of your unit.

Our house is hot! The ac unit outside comes on and freezes up, and the blower is not coming on. We have had the inside thermostat changed and freon added and now a new capasitor but no luck.....HLEp

Man, it sounds like you have a heat pump with a bad defrost board or reversing valve. I assume your description of the unit outside freezing up is the condenser and the blower you refer to is the condenser fan motor. Or, is it the big copper line to the compressor that is freezing up? If so, have someone stand by the inside blower and listen for a click as you move the thermostat fan switch from auto to on a couple of times., Make sure at the time you are testing that the thermostat is in the off position. Those 2 switches operate separately. If you hear those clicks during the test you probably have a bad blower motor if there are are no clicks you may have a bad blower relay or board. Hope this helps good luck.

GMPN 100-4 furnace. Blower motor runs when not calling for heat.

The board is bad. The unit thinks a flame is present, so it tells the blower to come on. Replace the board.

Goodman GMH950904CXAC with white rogers programmable stat. Turn the furnace on and the blower comes on whether there is a call for cool or not. Red led on control board is on, indicating OK. Disconnect...

make sure the blower is not set on rather than auto or the blower will run all the time. You might want to disconnect the thermostat and test the low voltage circuit to make sure the wires are not shorted
