Question about KitchenAid Blenders

1 Answer

I have 3-year-old Kitchenaid Blender, model KSB1575CCUO. The motor started occasionally making a grinding sound, especially on high speeds, but blades still turn. Does the motor need oiling?

It could be failing bushes for the motor
take it to an appliance repair shop for an inspection of the motor to check for bush/bearing problems

I have a kitchen aid blender with a polycarbonate jar. The jar leaks at the blade. I noticed it has a plastic nut on the bottom with left hand threads. However the nut will not fit over the drive gear...

Older KitchenAid blenders had a jar that was made so the blade assembly could be removed for cleaning. On the newer models the blender jar and the blade assembly are all one unit so you have to purchase a new jar to get the blade assembly. All of this is dependent on which model of blender you have.

We would be happy to help you. Please a give us a call at 1-800-339-9297 we would be happy to help! One of our repair technicians can talk you through the repair over the phone free of charge. On the bottom of your blender is the model and serial numbers; have these handy when you call so we can help you order the correct part.

We have several blender jars on our Web site http://www.mendingshed.com/kitaidblen.html for KitchenAid blenders. If we don't have the blender jar that fits your model in-stock we can order it and ship it to you. Please contact us with any further questions. How can I change the blade for my 2 speed hand mixer? The model type is NC-12 if you need to know

you are using your KitchenAid blender and it stops blending, you may think there is a problem with the motor in your machine. However, a common reason for the blades not rotating in the blender is a dirty or faulty coupler. The coupler is what connects your blender dispenser to the motor, and you can easily replace the coupler at any time by only using a screwdriver.
Things You'll Need
  • Flat-blade screwdriver
    • 1 Turn the blender dispenser clockwise and lift up to remove it. Set the blender dispenser aside.
    • 2 Insert a flat-blade screwdriver between the black drive coupler and the frame of the blender on the top center portion of the blender.
    • 3 Lift the screwdriver upward, and the coupler will start to bend out of place. Slightly turn the coupler and then lift up on the screwdriver again.
    • 4 Continue to move the coupler slightly and lift the screwdriver until the coupler is completely removed.
    • 5 Insert the new coupler over the blender's motor blade and then twist the coupler counter-clockwise until it is tightly fastened.

My 5 speed KSBS kitchenaid blender is stuck together (glass and underneath part that would fit into motor base.

Have a look at the pictures here.
I think you are describing the blade unit's gasket being stuck. This can happen over time and especially if bits of food get stuck and harden. Try soaking for a long time in warm soapy water then keeping applying pressure until the seal between the gasket and jar gives.

KSB5600BO kitchenAid blender blades broke and l am looking to replace them but I can't find the right parts. Do I need to just by the whole Jar assembly?

You don't need to replace the entire jar assembly. Have you tried to contact Kitchensid. They make high quality appliances and will probably send you new blades for $0.

Seems like motor has lost power

This sounds like the black rubber coupler has broken. The teeth often get knocked off. Have a look at the part shown in hte pictures here:

The nut that holds the blade is loose and liquid gets through it. When I tried to just tighten the nut is spins but does not tighten. Is there a trick

It sounds like the blade has overheated at some point. When this happens the plastic melts and the seal is broken. The only repair is to replace the blade unit:

The blades stopped turning in the middle of blending a batch of hummus Its is a Kitchen Aid blender about 10 years old

Does the motor still work if you take the pitcher off of the base? If so, the rod that's in the blade assembly is probably corroded. The blades are connected to a metal rod that passes through a brass tube through to the piece that makes contact with the motor when you put the pitcher on the base. The grease wears down eventually and if you don't pulse and run the motor for a long time at once, the heat can corrode the bar and cause the blade to stop spinning. You can either disassemble the blade unit, or buy a new blade unit online. google blender parts and you can get one for $10

How to know a NEW from the old polycarbonate jug\pitcher that cracks near blades.

The "code" you are seeking is found in the serial number, which has a specific way of noting when the unit is manufactured.

Buy with confidence and hang on to your dated sales receipt. If the blender leaks, take advantage of Kitchenaid's 1 Year warranty by calling into Kitchenaid Customer Service.

Their toll-free telephone number is 1-800-541-6390.
