You can either use the supplied USB lead and software (which, however, may not work under Win10) or you can put the memory card into a USB card reader attached to your computer, which Win10 should then treat as a separate disc drive.

When I plug in my nikon coolpix s3000 my computer says "Catastrophic error", any help?

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Nikon Transfer or Picasa.

You can use a card reader to read or transfer your images from your SD memory card via the USB port. You can use the "copy & paste" or you can use the mouse to drag the images to transfer to location on your PC.

Hope it helps.

After downloading pictures with the "erase after downloading" box checked it starts to erase the pictures as expected, but hangs at pic 37. Is the memory card faulty, or is it a software bug?

I'm not sure what's causing that problem, but it will be much faster each time you download photos to not erase after downloading. Instead, find the option on your camera to format the card, and it will erase everything on the card in one process. It's much faster.

My nikon coolpix s3000 wont download pictures to my computer

Hi

I used to have a very similar problem with mien, I couldn't download the pics from the camera. The problem was in the camera that the computer didn't recognize it.

The solution that worked for me was the following.
I bought a card reader ( a cheap one cost around 10$ US)
when I used the card reader
with the camera card I could access the pics without any problem and transfer them as easy as earlier.
if you find a solution to the problem please post it here
Thanks
