Question about Sony PlayStation® 3 (80GB) Console

1 Answer

I press the power button, and it lights up and I

I press the power button on my Playstation 3 (60 Gb) console, and it lights up and I can hear the fan begin to spin, then it shuts down after about one second, and there is only a dim red blinking light. The remote controllers do not have any effect. The problem began while I was playing a game, the screen froze for a few seconds, then the system shut itself down and I cannot start it up anymore. Please help! Jeff

Ok so in this situation you need to call sony. its broken, but there have been reports of people "roughing up" their ps3's to get them to work, try unplugging everything, and flipping the power switch to off, on your ps3, then plugging it all back in and turn the witch on, they say after about the 4th to 5th try you can get it to boot up, my suggestion is to never turn it off after that, but dont hold me accountable for whatever happens. this is what ive read on the internet

i forgot to add more, damn it, but you should also try moving your ps3 to its own power source. like keeping it on its own power strip, because it could be a lack of power. try that too.

My play station had the red light of death and fix it my self

Hello,

You can try the steps below. Its from PlayStation Forum:

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System

If the above steps still does not solve the problem, then I think will have to update your Ps3.

Update your PS3 (in the settings menu the 1st option).

Go on the internet browser on the PS3 then go on the menu press triangle then on one of them there are delete cookies and the delete the others as
well as cookies.

You could also try this as well: put the PS3 on then press the eject button (with no disc in) then hold it and switch the PS3 off at the back with your finger on the eject button still holding it, then put it back on and the fan test should be working this may cool it down. It might be over heating.

But if your problem is not still solved, then maybe you should call sony for further assistance.

I wish you good luck

try video reset

when ps3 is in standby mode(red light)
press and hold the power button till you hear a second beep.

standby mode press hold power........"beep"......"beep"..release power button

then try rebuilding the database and the file system in recovery consol

to get to the recovery consol press and hold the power button when ps3 is in standby mode(red light) till you hear a double beep. sometimes the ps3 does a beep then another beep and goes back into standby thsi is fine just release the power and quikly press and hold it again till you get double beep.

ps3 standby...press hold power.......beep .........beep........stanby again....release and hold power again.......beep .........double beep...release power now you should be in recovery menu.
