Marty, this mower is know for the wires right at the clutch to break. causing the problem you are describing. you probably have a wire that is in the middle of breaking. get under it and wiggle the wires. you should feel some resistance. tape them up good or you may have to take the clutch off and solder the wires back together. good luck.

Since the LTX1050 has an electric PTO and the LTX 1045 has a manual PTO then I would say no.

What causes mower deck to sometimes engage after PTO switch gets shut off.

Sounds like a bad connection in the wiring harness from the switch to the PTO clutch. I have a lot where the wires broken at the clutch but still make contact randomly since the insulation was still in place.

Does my pto mower engage/disengage clutch need replaced or adjusted?

so the pto was spinning around WITH the crankshaft? if so then you have a broke pto bracket it keeps the pto still while the bottom spins the deck belt - look under the mower if you can turn the pto more then a half inch then you have a missing bracket or its hitting sometimes and acting like its not there half the time

I have a 2011 cub cadet ltx1040 with 42 inch mower deck. replaced belt, pto cable and spindle brake pads. Belt is still loose when pto engaged and cannot find any adjustment to tighten belt. All parts...

If all the parts are correct then you need to check the belt routing diagram. Sometimes you can find it on the mower deck and in the owners manual. Look carefully at the spring locations on the deck to be sure there correct. George

Simplicity zero turn electrical problems

charge the battery not hooked up to the mower let it sit overnight and try again the battery might just be died they only last a couple years put a volt meter on the battery when off then start it and watch the battery voltage should be around 14 volts running the pto clutch draws the most thats why it shuts off first the ign doesn't take any the carb needs very little

My dad is trying to fix a lawn mower for a friend. It is a John Deere LX172. Whenever the mower deck is engaged or the unit is put into gear, the engine dies as if the ignition were shut off. I think...

Check the seat switch. That will cause your problem. It happened to me when I was not sitting on seat and turned deck on. Mine is a LX172 also.

I need a belt diagram for a ranch king king plus also i need to know the size for the main drive belt

Ranch King is a brand name of the manufacturer MTD.

Product manuals with part blow-up diagrams are available from MTD's web site,
http://www.mtdproducts.com/
Models are identified from the model number printed on a label under the mower seat.
The PTO and deck drive belts are shown on one diagram and the transmission drive belt is shown on another. The Form number on my printed Operator's Manual is 770-10526A (22HP, 46in cut) for Hydrostatic 817/818 models.

Parts can be ordered directly from MTD or other distributors on the web.

It is my experience that original brand name MTD belts work best.

The 22HP, 46" mower deck Ranch King Pro has 3 belts:

The drive belt which runs from the engine pulley back to the hydro drive unit to provide over-the-ground propulsion is part #754-0349.

A mower has either an electric PTO or a manual PTO, not both.

The electric PTO belt the provides power to the blade deck (runs around the electric clutch on the engine shaft (activated by electric switch, not the mechanical hand lever that engages the mower deck) is p/n 754-0476 for the 46" deck.

The manual PTO belt the provides power to the blade deck (runs off the pulley on the engine shaft (activated the mechanical hand lever to the left of the steering wheel that engages the mower deck) is p/n 754-0228 for the 46" deck.

The deck belt that goes around the 3 blade spindle assemblies on the mower deck, to drive the grass cutting blades is p/n 754-0349

In my experience, the PTO belt lasts about half a season, the other belts break about every other season when mowing 4 acres weekly.
