Any thermometer will work as the process is always the same for any yogurt maker. You want to heat the milk up to 180 degrees and the let it cool down to 110-115 degrees and add the starter then pour into the cups and then the machine keeps the yogurt at the correct temp for it to ferment. A specific yogurt thermometer is just a regular thermometer with marks on it for 180 degrees and 110-115 degrees.

I have recently bought dhobani greek yogart and saw on the tv where there was a problem with the yogart and people were becoming ill. is it safe orshould i return what i have bought

You should call the store where you bought it and find out if they will take it back, or exchange it (just to be safe). The official statement from chobani is that there were some mold issues in yogurt with the manufacturing code 16-012, with expiration dates between 9/11/2013 and 10/7/2013

Numbers have rubbed off oven prima

Welp, you're gonna have to get yourself a cheapo oven thermometer and relabel (sharpie or label maker, or tiny paint pen). Most ovens aren't very accurate according to their labels anyway, so you'll have to experiment with the thermometer and some labeling. If ya want to be slick, you can get some clear contact paper or similar, tape out some basic temps, then print out a label with them all. But a plain old label maker will probably work fine.

One more question about ice maker

Good day,
Not really. Solid ice cream is one good indicator. If it's hard, your there. But to clarify, the water will freeze, but even though the ice maker is capable of performing a harvest, if for example the freezer was at say 20 degrees, the internal thermostat in the ice maker would prevent it from doing so, thus giving a false indication the ice maker was bad, even though it wasn't.
Go thru the 3 hour drill first. If it harvests, then we can ignore all this. If your not sure, you'll need to borrow or buy a refrigerator thermometer.

No Ice

Clogged filter?
On most ice makers, if the water pressure drops too low, the valve will not open to fill the ice maker.

Frozen water line?
On some units, the water line supplying the ice make can freeze up preventing water from getting to the ice maker.

Freezer cold enough?
Are you sure of the temp inside your freezer?
Place a small thermometer that can register temps around the freezing range. (example of a thermometers not to use are: a candy thermometer or a thermometer used to take a person's temp.) If you do not have one or do not want to purchase one, put a bowl of water in your freezer. If the water does not turn to ice in say 6 to 8 hours, your freezer is not cold enough.
