Question about KitchenAid KHHC2090S Stainless Steel 1200 Watts Microwave Oven

Open Question

KitchenAid KHHC2090 - Touch panel no longer working. Is there a fix?

The microwave has been periodically beeping and changing screens for the last week or so. Now none of the touch buttons respond. The vent and light still work, but last night the vent would not turn off so we unplugged the unit. Today, after plugging it back in, the touch screen says, Error Code F9-Q.

SOURCE: Microwave came on by itself

Yes this is usually caused by the touch assy, but $278 !!!!! Thats kinda steep considering the panel assy is only around 30-60 bucks!!! It will need the touch assy and even possibly the control board, because sometimes the logic IC gets fried and causes "ghost issues" as well.

SOURCE: Hi I have KitchenAid microwave model

hello,

what this code indicate on the screen is that there have been a loose wire connected to the element(heater) of the wave.

what you are to do to fix up this problem is to unscrew the wave the trace the wire down to the element the element is silver in nature or color fix up the wire back to the element and then see if the problem is solve, but if the problem remain then it means that you will have to replace the element

you can get the part at any good technician store around you but note this information make sure that the part you will order for should be same with the old one that need a replacement for easy compatible.

thank you and thanks for using fixya.

SOURCE: my KHHS179LSS-3 will not let you control microwave

I was afraid I needed to replace the microcomputer when my KHHS179L touchpad was unresponsive. I was able to use the ADD A MINUTE feature, so I knew the unit worked. There had been a power outage of less than a minute to my home recently (I was unaware of this until I asked the kids if they had done anything to the microwave). I popped around on fixya.com and really didn't find an easy solution-my favorites. I loaded kitchenaid.com and found the answer in the FAQ's. Although the control lock out icon was NOT LIT-apparently, that power surge locked my controls. By holding the stop button for 5 seconds once and then aagain a second time, miraculously, my touchpad was restored> HOORAY!

Remove the relay case and gently file the points until clean with a miniture file set from Radio Shack, and spray the points with electronic cleaning spray also available from the same location, try this if new relay won't work.

Microwave turns on, on its own, beeps non-stop

This is usually caused by a defective touch pad and it not it is the control panel. Replacement costs for either is usually rather expensive.

On button no longer works

Without your brand and model number, it's hard to give specific guidance, but when a microwave won't start, the first suspect is a bad door switch or door switch mount. See this file.

You mentioned that you clean the touch panel. I hope that a cleaning spray was not sprayed directly on the controls or on the oven. That's a big killer of controls.

Microwave model KHMS155LSS-3 turns self on

I had the same problem with the same model of KitchenAid Microwave. KitchenAid customer service will act like they never heard of the problem, although if you google it, you will find that this is a very common problem. Ask to be transferred to the safety department. After more than 6 months of complaining and several repair attempts (they replaced control panel and switches), KitchenAid finally gave me a full refund. This is a serious safety defect for which they have no fix. The product needs to be recalled, and I am willing to testify that KitchenAid was criminally negligent when this product finally causes a house fire and possibly serious injury or death.

I started having the same problem with my KBMC140HSSO. You cannot see the error codes without disassembling the control panel (the codes are on another display that covered by the front panel). After doing so I found the error code to be F2, E3 which is "Key held down too long, or key shorted". I am ordering a replacement keypad and will report back if this fixes the problem.
