Question about Juki Sewing Machines

1 Answer

I have a Juki DDL-5530, which is self-oiling. Are the litle holes on the surface of the machine bed for oil? Do I need to lubricate anything manually?

If you see moving parts that haven't got oil on them do it manually. By being sure they have been oiled you will keep from having to take it to your sewing machine repairman. Don't put your faith in the "self oil" belief!

Thanks, Jimmie - I could see that the wick serving the needle bar was somewhat dry, and applied oil to it ASAP. Smoother already. Soooo I need to dismantle the face plate and squirt things up a bit! Thanks so much!

Juki Sewing machine DDL-555. After 4-5 hours use feed not moving

Sounds like as the machine builds up friction from extended use, some vital part is lacking lubrication and is seizing up. A good service person will remove ALL of the covers and thoroughly air clean and oil every moving part. Sometimes these dry points are hard to find and patience is required.

You can get a sewing machine oiler with a long applicator and put a drop of oil on anything that moves, but over oiling can be messy.

No movement of oil in top eye

Welcome to FixYa. Without knowing when you oiled the machine, I'm not sure whether you have a problem. Self-oiling machines wick the oil from the will in a controlled manner, so the oil should not need to be replaced often. Your manual should tell you how often the machine needs oil. In case you don't have a manual, I'm including a link to a site from which you can purchase one:
http://www.sewingmanuals.net/juki-model-ddl5554-sewing-machine-ma.html

I hope this helps. If you can take a moment to rate my answer, you will help me become a better expert.

Good luck, and feel free to comment if you have additional questions or would like a referral to another expert. Ginny
