Question about Krups Ea9000 Barista Espresso Machine

Open Question

Our Krups EA9000 just started "priming" before every drink we make. We have to empty the drip tray 4-5 times each priming cycle before the machine will pre-heat & make a drink. Anyone know why?

We have followed all of the required maintenance guidelines and replaced filters, etc. Thanks!

This will most likely happen when the pressure valves become defective. Replacing the two valves (they come in pairs) should fix the problem.

SOURCE: A Krups KM7005 coffee maker/grinder doesn't heat or drip water .

Mine had the same problem ... all the lights are on, grinding works fine, but no heat on the plate, and no dripping of water.

After a weekend on the workbench, I mastered this machine. The KM7005 has 2 x MicroTemp G4 thermal cutoff (TCO) fuses which interrupt the Live line, for overheat protection. Mine didn't overheat per se, but the TCO blew anyway. Not reset-able ... need to be replaced with a soldering iron. To date, I have helped 13 people on this site fix this exact problem.

I'll be happy to advise you to fix this, or fix it for you. Write me at KM7005@flightsystems.biz.

SOURCE: We require service/repair manuals for

Hello,

unfortunately, the service manual for your Krups coffee machines :- XP 9000 XP 7240 XP7250 FNF 1 FNF unit is not available anywhere online. The manufacturers of this Unit did not make it available. I went further searching and couldn't find any.

I would suggest you contact the manufacturer of your Krups coffee machines :- XP 9000 XP 7240 XP7250 FNF 1 FNF via phone or e-mail and request for the service manual from them. They might give it to you or direct you to a dealer where you can get the service manual.

This is the best you can do to get the service manual you are requesting for.

Good luck.

How is it possible that everytime the machine starts with the message maintenance required, when the coffee is not even finished

Could it be that the machine needs a cleaning cycle to be run or a descale done. If neither of the above it will mean the machine has detected something about the process is outside normal parameters and should be looked at.

It says driptray full, but it isn't? Any ideas?

Wevhave had ours into the shop four times for the erroneous 'coffee grounds' and drip tray' emptying. They have changed the mother board, chip in the door and even looked at the head gasket and carburettor settings but can't find the source of the problem.
What we have found latelt (it's Christmas so everything is closed for a month) is if we leave it overnight without power, 3 out of 4 times it resets itself.
It's apain if it plays up during the day but mornings brings us a good cuppa more often than not.lesson-get a deLonghi next time, this Saeco brand is more trouble than they are worth.

Hi, Franke Saphira. 'Empty Drip Tray' message doesn't shift when in descale mode - not in any other mode though, only when trying to descale. Any ideas? Cheers

If you keep the empty drip tray message, especially after making a drink or cleaning operation this points to a leak internally on to the drip tray contacts. or from the thermoblock leaking onto the wiring loom behind the front door panel. An engineer will be required to fix this as the correct seals will be needed. I have been a Franke Service Engineer for 15 Years.

Cleaning the Machine
- Never wash your espresso machine accessories in the dishwasher.

After use, the water container must be emptied.

• Drip tray
This must be emptied after using the appliance by taking off the grid See figure (19)below. If several espressos are being prepared one after the other, the drip tray should be emptied from time to time (about once every 7 - 8 espressos). The presence of water is normal and does not signify a leak. If necessary, clean the drip tray and its grid with water and a little non-abrasive washing-up liquid, rinse and dry. When reassembling the machine, ensure that the plastic lining is in the right place See figure (20) below.

• The brewing head, the filter basket and the filter holder

These must be cleaned after each use. All you need to do is wipe a damp cloth over the brewing head of your appliance and to wash the other accessories in water and a little non-abrasive dishwashing liquid, rinse and dry. If the brewing head is heavily clogged up, unscrew the grid using a coin, clean it and refit it, pressing down firmly See figure (21)below.
When your espresso machine is not being used, do not leave the filter holder in the appliance to prevent wear on the gasket.

• The cup warming plate: remove this to clean it with water and a little non-abrasive dishwashing liquid, rinse and dry.

• The cappuccino accessory

For more thorough cleaning the cappuccino accessory can be dismantled from the appliance.

Descaling

Descalling (SIC) is necessary to keep your espresso machine running efficiently.

As a result descaling of your espresso machine should be done fairly frequently
with citric or tartaric acid.

• Use caution when descaling your espresso machine as the acid substance within the descaling powder may damage countertops or any other surface it comes in contact with.

However, we would advise you to use the reference solution as W F054 that is available from Krups. Descaling depends on the hardness of the water, but also on the frequency of use.

To descale, follow the following method:

• Unscrew the grid from the brewing head of the appliance and clean it See figure (21)below.
• Dissolve a packet of KRUPS descaling solution in 17 oz1510 ml of lukewarm water and pour the whole batch into the empty water container.
• Place a container under the brewing head. Run through about 1/3 of the liquid immediately, setting the selector to the position See figure (9)below.
• Stop the appliance, leaving the position See figure (9)below engaged and wait for 10 - 15 minutes to allow the descaler to take effect.
• Next, start the machine again and allow the rest of the liquid to run through.
• Then rinse with two water containers of fresh water and replace the grid on the head of the appliance (see section on “Cleaning the machine”).

The warranty does not include espresso machines that do not function, or do not function properly, because descaling has not been carried out.
