I can not get my kodak hero 5.1 printer to work on my windows xp 64 bit

Turning sharing on or off

The first time you connect to a network, you'll be asked if you want to turn on sharing between PCs and connect to network devices such as printers. Your answer automatically sets the appropriate firewall and security settings for the type of network that you connected to. You can turn sharing on or off at any time.

To turn sharing on or off

  1. hh_ppeic.pngTap or click to view available networks.

  2. Press and hold or right-click the network you're connected to, then tap or click Turn sharing on or off.
435600ef-5a98-4568-bfa2-28d51981b1e3_13.jpgMenu used to turn sharing on or off

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Choose Yes, turn on sharing and connect to devices for home or small office networks, or when you know and trust the people and devices on the network. This setting allows your PC to connect to devices on the network, such as printers.

    • Choose No, don't turn on sharing or connect to devices for networks in public places (such as coffee shops or airports), or when you don't know or trust the people and devices on the network.

      Notes

      • Turning sharing on prepares your PC for sharing files and devices on a network. For more information about sharing with other people on your network, see Sharing files and folders on a network or a shared PC.

      • The network sharing setting is only available for WiFi, Ethernet, VPN (non-domain) and dial-up (non-domain) connections. It's unavailable for domain networks. On VPN or dial-up connections, you must connect to the network first, then press and hold or right-click the network name to change the network sharing setting.

      • Turning on sharing changes your firewall settings to allow some communication, which can be a security risk. If you know you won't need to share files or printers, the safest choice is No, don't share or connect to devices.

      • Choosing No, don't turn on sharing or connect to devices blocks the following applications and services from working: PlayTo, file sharing, network discovery and automatic setup of network devices.

About network discovery

Network discovery is a setting that affects whether your computer can see (find) other computers and devices on the network and whether other computers on the network can see your computer. It's one of several settings that are turned on when you turn on network sharing. You can turn network discovery on or off independently of network sharing, but we discourage this. Here's why. If you're connected to a network in a public location and you decide to turn on network discovery but leave network sharing turned off, the network discovery setting will be on for every public network you connect to from then on. This wouldn't be safe. That's why we recommend using the network sharing setting instead.

However, if for some reason you need to turn network discovery on or off independently of the network sharing setting, here's how to do it:

  1. hh_ppeic.pngTap or click to open Advanced sharing settings.

  2. Tap or click the chevron 7d2e0f87-bcfb-44a3-8422-5c9353bcde11_89.jpg to expand your current network profile.
  3. Tap or click Turn on network discovery or Turn off network discovery, then click Save changes. 1f9463c2-c968-47bf-9b4d-939c5d1af477_70.jpg You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.

Hi,

My name is Ben and I'm your guru, i.e., mentor, an influential teacher or popular expert: a management guru. - origin from Sanskrit, 'weighty, grave', for today.

Subject: How connect a Nokia 2626 to a computer

This is done in two ways: 1. Bluetooth adapter; and, 2. Data Link

If your computer is incapable of receiving Bluetooth, hou'll have to buy an adapter.

To use a direct connection, I recommend LiveMesh.

From the publsher:
Your work computer, home laptop, Mac, or mobile phone- devices live in multiple places. But the files you need--and the programs that open them--often don't. Live Mesh changes all that. With Live Mesh, you can synchronize files with all of your devices, so you always have the latest versions handy. Access your files from any device or from the web, easily share them with others, and get notified whenever someone changes a file. Use Live Mesh to connect to your other computer and access its desktop as if you were sitting right in front of it. To download for free Clck Here

All the best,

Ben

How do I do file transfers from one wireless laptop on a westell 6100 dsl model to another wireless laptop on the same modem. Neither laptop in connected to the modem via eithernet. how would I set this...

Hi There.. Please follow te below steps..

1) Connect your old computer to the wireless network. Nowadays most people use the internet through a wireless network. So basically, if you have wireless internet and you are able to get on the internet... that means you are connected.

2) Go into the networks settings. This is usually as simple as right clicking the network's icon and then clicking properties. What you want to do is turn on, "file and printer sharing" within the network

3) Now, go to the folders/data that you want to transfer. Right click or get into the properties of that folder. Check the box that says "share this folder with network".

4) On the new computer, connect to the wireless network. Under control panel or possibly the start menu, there should be an option for "My Network Places" or "My Network". In this folder you should find the data that you chose to share from your old computer. You can simply copy/paste or drag/drop the files to your new computer.

Now you are offset to transfer the files from one laptop to another...

My lg phone says im roaming when im not and it wont let me send out text's or recieve

Your phone is programmed with parameters to trancieve from a particular network. It roams when you're outside the coverage area or when the programming parameters have been altered in some way. Check your settings or refer to the network's programming unit to have the parameters entered correctly... then you'll be connected to the network services.

Got connected, but no recieved data

Firstly don't encrypt your connection until it is up and running. Depending on your router, if you require it to allocate IP addresses automatically you have to make sure enable DHCP is ticked, otherwise see what the IP address of the router is e.g 192.168.2.1 and set your network TCP/IP properties to 192.168.2.2 or any last digit as long as it is not the same. This is the router IP address and not your ISP address. Lastly set up your encryption but there are two ways of sharing the connection, one is called a 'wep shared key'; the other 'wep open' so make sur your pc wireless network is sharing the same type of WEP. Hope this helps Please rate this solution.
