I have a Kenmore refrigerator not cooling

I have a Kenmore refrigerator model 363.50222000 side by side that is not cooling the freezer or Frig. We shut it off about 2 weeks ago and cleaned everything out, and plugged it back in and everything worked great but now we are back in the same situation. We did take off the freezer back panel and noticed that the coil was totally covered in ice. It is now unplugged and waiting for a fix of some kind, can you help us?

You will need to replace the heating element, if it looks blacken, then it's not good. When good, it's a clear glass tubing with a coil that heats up. Call Sears for parts.

SOURCE: our GE profile freezer/frig - frig side has ice on coils

The profile uses a motherboard instead of a defrost timer. you can remove the evaporator cover and you will see a glass defrost heater at the bottom and a white sensor and a defrost thermostat at the top of the coil. you can ohm out the thermostat and the heater. If the white sensors have a round end instead of a flat end replace any way.

SOURCE: GE side by side refrigerator, coils has ice

Make sure the fan is running. and if there is a fan on bottom at the back. where the compressor is
clean the coils where the compressor is. If this don't help or stop it. It may be low on freon.

I have had that problem when my Kenmore frig was surrounded by too much stuff that prevented air flow to the coils. It was also a problem when I had it on carpeting. I put a wood panel underneath the whole frig and cleared away all the clutter.

I have a Kenmore coldspot side by side- not cooling properly

Setting it to 5 is what the manufacturer recommends. If you set it to 1 and the frig is still not cold, then you probably have a faulty cold control (thermostat)

My kenmore refrigerator side by side

All the cooling takes place in the freezer and is blown over to the frig side so the frig side will start to warm up soon. Possible cause is the starting device to the compressor is faulty, compressor motor locked up or cold control faulty and not closing.
