SOURCE: The person I purchased this t.v from is saying the

The projector unit keeps an internal timer to warn you when a lamp is near the end of its life. This timer doesn't automatically reset - you have to use the on-screen menu to reset it.

Her story sounds perfectly legit, you just need to perform the timer reset (or have her do it with you/for you) and you should be all set.

How to reset the lamp meter on a panasonic pt-52lcx16

Panasonic Projection TV Lamp Timer Reset
Your lamp will probably last a lot longer than the TV thinks it should. This procedure will reset the lamp timer so you don't have to look at that annoying message every time you turn your tv on. Remember that the "lamp" indicator light on the lower left of the set will stay on until the lamp is actually replaced. I had to buy a replacement lamp to get this information, could not find it anywhere for these model numbers.
Press the volume down button on the projection display and hold down the zero button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds. When the reset procedure is complete, a message will display that the lamp timer was reset to zero.
This procedure will work for Panasonic models: PT-52LCX66 , PT-56LCX66 , PT-61LCX66 , PT-52LCX16 , PT-56LCX16 , PT-61LCX16

Does the panasonic PT-52LCX66 have a reset switch or anything for after replacing the lamp assembly?

The reset directions should be included with the replacement lamp. If the sheet is missing, you can get a copy here: http://images.panasonic.com/static/Content/productsupport/TYLA1001.pdf .

Plug in the TV and turn it on. Press and hold the Vol - button on the front of the TV then press and hold the zero ( 0 ) button on the remote for more than 5 seconds. You will see a Lamp Reset message on the TV when you are finished.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(if you do not have the original remote, you will need a replacement remote. One substitute remote is available here: http://remotes.com/store/panasonic/eur7613zh0.html .)

Turn on tv get error message Lamp needs to be replaced and the Lamp Hour meter needs to be reset. I still have picture how do I reset this error message

Howdy,
To reset your Panasonic Lamp Time:
ø Press and hold these buttons for (at least) 5 seconds:
ø Volume Down button (on TV Panel).
ø AND ACTION Button (on remote).

As the remote gets older the ACTION button may not respond unless you press the button dead center and not at an angle.

Thanks for using FIXYA, BIG IRISH.

Projection lamp timer reset

I need help resetting the lamp timer. Is there a way to reset the timer w/o the remote? We bought this tv as a floor model 4 yrs ago and they didn't have the actual remote that came with it, so they gave us another remote that works. We replaced the lamp but we keep getting the message that the lamp needs to be replaced and the timer reset. Plus the red lamp indicator is still on. We even used a friend's remote (he has the exact same tv) and it still will not reset the timer.
