Question about Kenmore Humidifiers

Open Question

I am getting an F code on the display. The switch is working and the basin is full. I have unplugged the unit, let it sit, and plugged it in again. Same issue.

Kenmore Humidifier Model 758.15412010 I have discovered a way to activate the service display codes but can't figure out how to reset the controller.

SOURCE: Kenmore 15408 Humidifier How to Reset CF

Per the owner's manual, you simply unplug your device for 30 seconds. Upon plugging it back in, the CF notification should be cleared.

This assumes you have also changed the filter, of course.

SOURCE: Reset light comes on, unit stops operating when tank is full

I was up all night with this since I just purchased it yesterday and I wanted to be certain that there wasn't some simple alternative to returning the humidifier since the reset light keeps going on immediately after I turn the unit on AND I've already followed all the directions to the T. Believe me - I was ready to return it cause ain't no 38.99 worth me doing all this tinkering and trying to figure out why they couldn't make the unit correctly cause apparently A-LOT of people have this problem. If it wasn't for my three children being so ill including myself getting sicker going out to purchase the humidifier and I was trying to avoid going back out to further compound my illness----I WOULD have just returned it. MAYBE I still will return it. ANYWAY, here's the deal: the water in the tank SHOULD flow into the boiling chamber where of course steam rises from there; however, the WATER VALVE in the CAP to the water tank does not allow any water to flow into the boiling chamber because it is so tight. The reset light goes on as if there was no water in the tank because of course, the heater is on, but no water is getting boiled because the water can't get in. There are a few things you can do. First: the water valve is a little stick and a spring within a piece of rubber that can be slipped out of the cap (this is what I chose to do). Now the water flows easily and even with the unit set to high, there is no problem. It just works. Second: You could remove ONLY the stick and spring from the water valve's rubber piece. This would work if the hole in the rubber piece happens to allow steady water flow (mine wouldn't). Third: you could probably do some cutting til you were satisfied with the results.

Hera stadler form humidifier displaying "no water", despite tank being full

The float switch may have bad contacts or be broken. First, unplug the humidifier. Search the float mechanism for the switch - you may have to remove a cover to find it. Check for continuity between the terminals when the float is in the full position, and again when it is in the empty position (the readings should not be the same!). I assume the float is rising with the water level. You can also manually operate the switch to determine whether the mechanism is working; most such switches will have a snap action that makes a soft click when actuated (you may feel it in the float rod).

Note: the preceding information is generic; I don't know what kind of switch your humidifier uses. It's probably normally open when empty, or it may be a double-throw type, with one contact connected to the common terminal when empty, and the other connected when water is present. It is likely a sealed unit, or it's protected in a box with seals and gasket, or at least a splash guard, or the actuator rod goes into a separate compartment where the switch is actually located.

Bottles won't drain, seems to be air pressure issue

not understanding how it works will get you that assumption
the full bottle will slowly empty when the water level in which it sits gets low enough for the atmospheric pressure to displace the water and let in an air bubble
That way there is always water for the unit to work
Same principle as the bottled water drink coolers in the office
putting a hole in the bottle and you will have water all over the floor
you need to check the humidity level of the air because if it is too high then the system will not work and so the bottles will not empty--really simple principle

Waterless code displays, but it is full

the inlet valve spring is too strong on these, so the water can stop flowing into the unit. makes sure it is on a flat surface, fiddle with the valve spring.

How to stop it from spluttering

The sputtering may be caused by a calcium build up the water system. To solve the problem do the following.

Turn the unit OFF and unplug it.

Empty any remaining water from the tank.

Mix a 50/50 solution of Distilled White Vinegar and Bottled Distilled Water (enough to fill the tank).
Pour solution into the tank and allow it to sit for 1 - 2 hours.

Plug the humidifier in and turn it ON. Allow it to run until the tank is only half full. If the sputtering has not stopped, turn the unit OFF and allow the unit to soak over night.

The next morning, turn the unit On and run for 20 minutes. Turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Pour out the remaining solution and refill with Bottled Distilled Water. Run the unit for an hour. This will flush out the lines. After that, it should run normally.

I would highly recommend using Bottled Distilled Water in the future, rather than Tap Water.

Hope this helped you to solve the problem.

I just bought crane drop humidifier & happy with it.. by my silly mistake, i forgot to use step-down converter due to higher voltage(240V) in my country. It appear burn smell... look like the water...

Unfortunately, plugging a 110 volt appliance into a 240 volt source fries the motor, so buying a water basin is not going to help. Even if the heater element did not break, the higher voltage would have taken out the thermostat and probably other items.

You could replace the water basin, then the thermostat, then the element, but by the time you replaced att that, it would cost you more than replacing the unit with a 220V humidifier.

I don't like to be the bearer of bad knews, but I also have to give you the best advice (at least in my opinion) that I can.

I have the MA0800 and I have a CF flashing on the display. How do I get rid of this code? If it requires a clean filter, then how do I reset this code once I have a clean filter?

Change the filter then unplug the unit from the electrical outlet and the code will be cleared. Just shutting the humidifier off won't clear the code, it has to be unplugged from the power to clear the flashing CF.

How to clean air-o-swiss humidifier?

Gererally according to the booklet in the box.
If you no longer have those instructions, simply clean out the
basin, make sure no mold, dust, hardwater or calcium is deposited.
Use a 10% bleach water solution to kill bacteria, and thats is basically it.
Just dont miss any spots, but humdifiers should be cleaned every few uses.

This is the link to your manual:
http://www.crane-usa.com/manuals/HumidifierManual2008.pdf

CAUTION:
Always be sure that the appliance is unplugged and switched OFF before cleaning or attempting to store the item. NEVER PLUG OR UNPLUG UNIT WITH WET HANDS.
DO NOT leave water in water tank or water basin when unit is not in use as it may result in the build up of mineral deposits and bacteria that can inhibit the output efficiency of the humidifier.
PLEASE NOTE that if water remains in the water tank for more than a day or two, bacterial growth is possible.
ALWAYS use fresh cool water when using unit.
NOTE:
When removing water tank, water may accumulate under vapor lid and on the bottom of the water tank. It is recommended to have a dry cloth ready to dry wet surfaces.
DISINFECTING THE WATER TANK AND WATER BASIN
1. Fill water tank with 1 teaspoon of household bleach in 1 gallon of water. Let stand twenty minutes, shaking vigorously with two hands every few minutes, drain and rinse with clean water until the bleach smell is gone. Dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.

2. Wipe the water basin with a soft cloth dampened in the bleach and water solution. Rinse the water basin with cool water to remove any bleach smell. DO NOT IMMERSE WATER BASIN IN WATER.

3. Wipe all exteriors surfaces of the base with a soft, dry cloth. Do not immerse the base in water or use water to clean the base. An electric shock may result or the humidifier may be damaged.
NOTE: It is recommended to clean humidifier with water and bleach solution as stated above after using the humidifier the fourth time.

GENERAL MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Before any cleaning operation, switch the humidifier off and unplug it.
1. Always unplug the unit before cleaning.

2. The humidifier must be drained and cleaned before storing.

3. Once unplugged the exterior of the unit may be cleaned by wiping with a soft dry cloth. Caution: The ON/OFF switch must be thoroughly dry before unit is again plugged into power source.

4. There may be some lime deposits in the nebulizer, particular in areas with hard water. Overcome this drawback by cleaning the nebulizer with water and vinegar on a soft cloth regularly, as follows:

A. Dampen a cloth with vinegar and wipe the nebulizer gently, until the lime deposits disappear completely.

B. Rub down gently with a dry cloth and remove remains of humidity.

C. Do not rub the nebulizer with solid objects.

D. Do not clean with chemical products

5. When cleaning the water basin do not place the nebulizer directly under the water tap.

6. Never immerse the unit in water or let water enter the fan vent (see figure 3) or any other openings.

7. It is normal for water to be in the water basin. However water must not get inside the central body. If this should happen, take the humidifier to an authorized service center before using it again.

8. Clean the inside of the water tank at least once a week, as follows:

A. Fill the tank with clean water adding a few drops of bleach. Close the tank completely with its cap and shake by holding the tank with both hands. Do not hold by handle while shaking the tank.

B. Rinse thoroughly.
Water Level Sensor- The water level sensor is made of three key parts. When cleaning DO NOT MISPLACE these parts and MAKE SURE that you assemble these three parts correctly after cleaning and before operating humidifier. They are as follows:
Plastic Cap – this part has 4 flat tabs coming out from the bottom and is placed on top of a plastic pin.
Water Float - a small round part resembling a "life saver" candy located underneath the plastic cap.
Pin – plastic pin that secures water float and plastic cap.
To clean the water float unscrew the plastic cap from the pin. Remove the water float and clean by wiping the parts with a soft damp cloth. Replace the parts by first putting the water float onto the pin and re-screwing the plastic cap onto pin.

Good Luck.

I was looking for instructions as well, because I thought I had lost the manual. But then my wife found it. According to pages 8-9 (I scanned the pages as well and posted it here):
