SOURCE: I have a Polaris Indy 500 the motor is seized

this forum might help you out... How do fix an engine that seized because of no oil

Posted on Dec 09, 2016

Testimonial: "that give me a up side to what could have happened but see i feel that my snowmobile never ran completely out of oil i believe that it was getting some but not enough to keep it really lubricated i say that because a some of the times i never used oil to get unstuck and i don't think that my engine served any to little damage because when it was running it was running good and strong and then it seized again after i was riding it for a good 10 min and it was never smoking the engine so i don't think it was over heating nor did the over heating light come on."

Why won't my 1998 Polaris indy 500 start? It is getting fuel and has spark.

Along with fuel and need enough spark and you need enough compression. Asssuming your rings aren't broken and you can feel good compression when you are turning it over, you can spray a little ether in the carburetor chamber. If there is enough spark and compression it will at least fire up momentarily.
Sometimes the rings or cylinders get scratched up because they run incorrect gas/oil ratios for too long and then when they sit for a while the oxidation fills in those scratched surfaces. Starting with high fuel to oil ratios is easier to start ( gas burns easier with less oil in it) but the engine will wear faster with high ratios.

But if the engine won't start under pure ether, then the spark is real weak or out of time, and/or the compression is shot. Good compression makes heat and concentrates the air and fuel together. If the compression even falls from 10:1 to 8:1, that is enough to cool the charge from about 150F down to about 90F or so and you won't get ignition

Had water freeze up in my car engine and radiator. flushed it all out and added antifreeze but my car still wont start

that is not what the problem is , are you getting gas , ck the fuel pressure at the fuel rail should be at 40 to 50 lbs or something like that , could have a frozen fuel line put some gas in it ,try a little ether and fi it starts with that then you fuel pump may be bad

Im always having to put antifreeze in once a week. The way i know it needs it is when temp. gauge surges all the way up then it comes back down. No visible sign on any leaks any where. When i drive to...

Take a close inspection to your waterpump. Pump has a "weep" hole in bottom side of casting. It's an early warning system to detect seal leak before waterpump seizes up and does major damage. It could be so slight that coolant is blowing back along oil pan. That would be where I'd start. Do you smell coolant inside the rig? If so, check passenger floor up to firewall for dampness in carpet - indicating heater core leak.

Oil in the antifreeze and hardly any heat.

what you need is called a head gasket job.thats why you have no heat your oil and antifreeze are mixing making your car smoke, and will overheat causing serious engine problems dont drive it like this you will seize motor
