I have a Dometic RM2801 frig that, even on the lowest setting, freezes items in the frig box. The thermocouple looks like the end is dicintigrating, could this be the problem?

SOURCE: Refrigerator freezes everything even on the lowest setting

Is everything really frozen or just the top shelf stuff? You may have a thermistor (temp sensor) problem if the compressor just runs and runs and runs all the time. Take a glass of water and place a thermometer in it for about 3 hours then take a temp. reading. That will let you know what the real temps are. See if you can cause the compressor to kick off and on by changing the temp settings (go to real low for about 5 minutes then back up to high). Let us know what happens.

SOURCE: Everything in frig is frozen and it won't turn off.

If the compressor is running non-stop then the temp. control is not telling it that it's "cold enough". If the compressor isn't running non-stop then you should look at the air damper (little window) that lets the freezer air into the refer compartment... if it's stuck open then you will always get cold air pushed into the fridge eventually becoming a freezer in itself.

SOURCE: Freezing in frig.

Check the air dampers at the bottom of the fresh food section. They may have been moved to a open position. If so close them up some.
Otherwise the cold control thermostat may need to be replaced.

SOURCE: Vegetables freeze in the vegetable drawer. Freezer is on lowest setting.

Make sure that you realise that 1 degree is colder than 2 degrees and therefore a setting of 3 - 5 degrees might solve your problem

Your refrigerator has electronic dampers that may be only stuck. I think it would not hurt to defrost the refrigerator and lets have a look at those damper motors and see if they are responding to your control settings. Let me know, Sea Breeze

Dometic RM2801 gas works but electric does not. Checked 110v outlet works fine.

The RM2801 uses a manual thermostat. So it sounds like you have a bad heating element. It is located inside of the duct work on the right hand side of the rear of the fridge. First disconect the two wires that are attached to it from the other end. Then you should be able to remove it through the access door in the duct work itself. It just pulls straight out from the top. ArctiCold Refrigeration We keep it cold 5fc81d9c-d5c1-46de-a664-d4bcc0595561.jpg

Even at lowest setting refrigerator side freezes up

Possible failure of the thermostat or the sensor to the thermostat that is not working to control the cooling temperature and hence making the compressor work.

Try and set the thermostat to lowest just a little before it cuts off , if this wont work then the thermostat is faulty. Check the wires of the sensor to the cooling coils.
