On this page you will find a pdf copy of the owners manual. The manual will have all the set up instruction you will need. You can also talk to customer support on this page. You can also call Dynex customer support at this telephone number 1-800-305-2204. Give them the model number of your television and ask them for help. It sounds like you have no back light . This should be checked by an engineer. At the worse case the screen could be faulty

Unfortunately the key lock cannot be deactivated without a remote, for it will defeat the purpose of key-locking. You can order a replacement remote, you need to have the exact information of your TV's model/version ( the barcode on the back of the TV starts in REVxxxx).
