Re: my kodak scanner won't scan but will print pictures
Connect ur printer to ur computer and then try to scan any document or plug in any memory card and then press scan .it will ask u to save the file after scanning, save it on computer. ur issue will be resolved

Follow these steps : 1.1 Open the software program that came from your scanner.
2.2 Lift the lid of your scanner, place photo on scanner bed and close the lid.
3.3 Press the "Scan" button on the scanner or in your scanner software program.
4.4 Preview the scanned photo on your computer screen and check that the borders are straight and even. Rescan the photo if you make changes.
5.5 Load photo paper into your photo printer.
6.6 Press "Print" on your computer screen where your scanned picture is showing. If "Print" is not an option, save your photo to a specific folder and open it. When it's open you should have the option to "Print.
Try to do test print directly from the printer 1. Press at the sane time for 10 sec, the photo and copy button. 2. Clean the printhead simple press the menu button > selet clean printhead > select basic/deep clean 3. If it print a test page using the scanner glass. Place a doc./picture on the glass and copy it 4. If it failed call 1 800 421 6699 for assistance replacing the printhead
After you are through with reseating the ink and the printhead, the printer would ask you to go through a calibration and the light on the printer would begin to flash.
To calibrate the printer, put paper in the paper tray and press Start button on the printer. After you have printed the calibration, you will have to scan it so place it on the scanner glass and hit the start button.
After calibrating the printer, try a deep clean by pressing the Cancel and Copy buttons at the same time for two seconds. Wait for a minute and the cleaning process would complete.
Try printing a Demo sheet by pressing Copy and Cancel button.
If you still have lines on the prints, you can get a free printhead replacement from Kodak.
Try to install the latest version of Printer software from www.kodak.com/go/downloads
on your computer. then open the kodak home center software and click on scan pictures.
Adjust the settings and you are ready to go.

may be problem with scanner drivers. new software will fix up your issue.
turn the printer on, place the picture on the glass, on the printer under mode press the big silver button until the scan light comes on then press select, you should hear the picture scanning, then on the computer, go under my pictures and you should see that picture.
here is the troubleshooting steps
try to remove the ink cartridges and put it baack again but make sure to hear a click sound when you put the ink cartridges,after that try to print again picture and if still has lines through it press the menu in the printer scroll down until you can see the calibrate printer,press ok and select the print calibration page and hit the ok button..after it print place the calibration page in the scanner glass and press start, try to print again a picture and if still has a line call the kodak hot line 1 800 421 6699 and you might have a printhead replacement.
If your product is still within the warranty period from KOdak then you can call them up for some step by step troubleshooting to help you with your problem and as well they can replace the printer if defective.
Try this first
Calibrate your printer, then print a demo sheet.
If paper is in the photo paper tray, remove it.
Load photo paper into the photo tray.
Fan the paper to keep the sheets from sticking together.
IMPORTANT: Do not overload the photo tray.
Load a maximum of 20 sheets into the photo tray, with the Kodak logo facing up.
Engage the photo tray by pushing it in until it stops.
Calibrate your printer.
Select Calibrate Printer, then press Start.
Wait for your printer to print the calibration sheet.
Place the calibration sheet face down on the scanner glass.
For the 5300 AiO printer, place the sheet on the front right corner of the scanner glass.
For the 5500 AiO printer, place the sheet on the left rear corner of the scanner glass.
Wait until "Calibration complete. Remove calibration page from scanner glass. Press OK to continue." appears on the LCD display.
Remove the calibration sheet from the scanner glass, then press OK.
Print a demo sheet.
Disengage the photo tray by sliding it towards you until it stops. When the photo tray is disengaged, the main tray is active.
Select Print Demo Page, then press Start.
Wait for the demo sheet to print.

Try to get the scanner operating by using a programme such as paint (open file from scanner or camera) or powerpoint (insert picture from scanner or camera). I have used this with success in the past. I have not used the scan button so I cannot advise you on this.
Hope this at least gets you going with scanning a copy of something and once you have it in these programmes you can at least print it and make some changes that you desire.
