Try pressing F-8 and look for last known good working configuration.
If you are trying to reload from CD/DVD drive and it continues to boot into your old windows configuration, Enter your BIOS settings, and change the boot order to CD/DVD and then Hard drive

HP proliant DL380 gen4 PXE-E61, when trying to install redhat and solaris.

First, it's not booting from a CD or Hard Disk if you've reached that error. The 'last-ditch' effort to boot is to attempt a PXE boot from the network card, but your Ethernet cable isn't plugged in. Unless you know you've setup such a PXE boot server, you'll want to check the BIOS settings to be sure the CD-ROM is set to boot first, followed by the Hard Disc. Be sure you have Disc 1 of the Linux installation set in the CD-ROM Drive and reboot. If you don't get the install screen, you may have another issue (bad CD-ROM Drive, bad cable/controller, no power to CD-ROM, etc.)

Another note on the DL380, if there is a RAID controller, you'll need to setup the RAID before installing the OS. You'll want to make sure your hard drives are properly installed and aren't failed. The RAID configuration screen will verify the RAID status once it has been initialized, which will somewhat verify the drive status.

Windows Boot Manager message: Windows encountered a problem communicating w/a device connected to your computer. Error may be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB Drive...

Make sure there is nothing attached to the laptop, remove all devices like keyboard, mouse, flash drives and retry. If still having same error flip the laptop over and remove the battery and open up the 2 other compartments that have a screw holding them. One holds the memory modules and the other the hard drive, check and re seat all connections, then try again. If you still have the same error your hard drive is most likely failing,

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive Test the leads that attach to your ((hard drive from the motherboard)) or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive))
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections needs its connections continue its cycle and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
hope this helps

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. file\boot\bcd status 0xc000014c info an error occurred while reading the boot configuration data.

Check the hardware connectivity of your Hard drive and Cd rom drive. Check if the wires are plugged properlyand are not loose. This error is generally thrown when your system is not able to find the boot sector in other words it is not able to find all he information (all necessary file pointers, kernel info And Master Boot Record etc) which it needs to start the system.

In most cases this is a temporary issue and occurs due to loose connections of the cables from Hard drive or CD Rom ( if the system is being booted up from CD).

hmm seems a lil odd it appears that maybe your internal computer hard drive is failing or that its not properly connected if its happened recently with no internal computer changes then its definitely the hard drive failing on you
