SOURCE: Have heating pad model 809.

We have so many of these pads (now only) after the control part went to F1 and F2. My husband found the problem by taking the controler apart. Sadly what Sunbeam does is "pot" the wires. Meaning they put them into some plastic stuff to keep them from touching. But by doing this they leave the wire that makes the thing work to be the weak link that gets weakened even more by use and moving and adjusting the thing. It eventually breaks and he found there is no easy way to solder it back to the "potted" wires. It just leaves a short stub out of the pot. So if anyone knows how to purchase just the cord or fix it the heat pad would probably work just fine. So now we know what F1 and F2 actually means.

Radiant Heating - Why do You Feel Warm? The Best Most Efficient Heating System

What makes you feel warm on a sunny day in the summer? Radiant heating or radiant energy is usually recognized as the oldest form of heating. It provides the best comfort and is the basis for all types of heating systems. Radiant heating is "radiant energy" being emitted from any heat source. Radiant heating is the effect you feel when you can feel the warmth of the sun or a hot stove top element from across the room.

Radiant heat is widely known as the most comfortable and efficient heating method you can find. Some of the advantages of radiant heating are: it is usually more efficient than baseboard heating and almost always more efficient than forced-air heating because no energy is lost through ducts and other transfers. This technology can be used for both heating indoor and outdoor areas. These heating systems work by supplying heat directly to the floor, to panels in the wall or to the ceiling of a house. Because the radiant heating will make you feel warmer when you are in a room, you can have the thermostat at a lower temperature and still feel warm.

The feeling of warmth is the absence of heat being pulled from your body. If the walls, floors, and ceilings around you are warm then they are not pulling heat from your body. Then you feel warm. Your body is not giving up heat to them.

Because of this radiant heating systems can provide massive energy savings of more than 10-30% in most residences, and sometimes up to 60% in shops, hangars and warehouses. Radiant heating provides even warmth with no cold spots within a room. That provides a comfortable environment that cannot be matched by any other type of heating system.

New radiant systems are currently designed to run cooler than they did in the past. The water supplied to the systems will generally range from 90 to 140 degrees. Remember radiant heat can travel in any direction and is unaffected by gravity. Radiant heating systems will allow you to be more comfortable at a lower thermostat setting. Radiant heat will warm the closest and coldest mass, which then radiate heat throughout the space evenly. Radiant heating will give you the most consistent room temperatures from floor to ceiling when you compare it to any other heating system.

Geothermal Heat Pumps And Radiant Heating - An Absolutely Fabulous Combination

Geothermal Heat Pumps are usually associated with hot air heating and air conditioning. In climates that very seldom need air conditioning you need to concentrate more on heating. There is a very good way to use geothermal technology for very efficient and comfortable heating. Radiant floor heating can very easily be combined with a geothermal heat pump to give both comfort and efficiency.

Radiant floor heating has been the comfort and efficiency standard for many years. The feeling of a warm floor under your feet is priceless. Romping on the floor while playing with the children is great when the snow is blowing and the floor is pleasantly warm.

Geothermal heating has also been known for it's efficiency also. The drawback to hot air geothermal heating has been the air temperatures that are cooler than normal hot air heating systems. By combining the two types of systems you can have very comfortable heat and efficiency at the same time.

There are something’s that you do have to take into consideration before deciding on a system like this.
You will have to drill a few wells to extract the heat from the ground. The piping must be installing in the wells correctly for the system to work properly. The heat pump needs to be designed for hot water heating. You can not use a heat pump designed for hot air use and make it work for radiant heating. The radiant heat design must be figured to use water temperatures that are cooler than many radiant heat systems. A maximum temperature design should be 130 degrees F. To get this kind of design to work correctly you will have to use good quality heat plates and insulated under the heat plates. By following these guidelines I have designed systems that have heated houses very comfortably at temperatures well below zero.

If you decide to install this type of system make sure that the installer knows exactly what they are doing. This type of system requires many things to be done exactly right so that the water flows will allow the system to work correctly. The piping on the well side is very critical that it uses all the wells equally. On the house side the piping must be primary/secondary. Pumps and pipe sizes must be able to give very high flow rates so that temperature drop is kept to ten degrees or less. When working with such low temperature the piping and pumping becomes so much more critical.

By using these principles to combine two very great heating types you can have a very good heating system that perform very well for many years. The only other factor with this type of system is that you don not have the ability to get cooling from the system. That is probably the only drawback of this type of system. It would be great if there was a geothermal unit made that was heating only. The elimination of the reversing valve would be a cost savings and a plus overall. This system is best suited for cooler climates that require little or no air conditioning.

Comfort Zone heater model: CZ2011C. Shuts completely off in two minutes

FYI...I have a customer that brought his Comfort Zone CZ2011C to me for service. It does exactly the same thing, just powers off after a few minutes of operation. I contacted the company and receive no help at all telling me that repair parts are unavailable. Really??? Absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with in over 29 yrs of appliance repair....

I have a Comfort Zone CZ1500W showing an AO5 error code. I have 9 ohms across each element. The fan thermostat reads open. When I bypass it the fan runs, but no heat. The element thermostat reads

Everytime I turn on the CZ heater, the display reads A05 and then it goes away when i set the temp. As far as I can see and feel, I'm not experiencing any issues with the heating, fan, or thermostat or the extension cord running hot. I'm concerned that something could be wrong or unsafe, with Comfort Zone filing for Chapter 7, anyone know who is offering support or a number I can contact?

My comfort zone heater is cz499r with remote, I posted a comment earlier about my heater smoking and not turning on, my return date ended jan. 15 is there anything i can do? I got the heater from big lots!

What you have is a very dangerous situation. It may not be a newness smell. It may be the plastic melting. Many of the Comfort Zone heaters were recalled in December 2010. Search Google for Comfort Zone Heater Recall to see if your specific model was included

Big Lots has some great pricing and deals, but some of their electric appliances are Factory Refurbished Units. If that is the case, it is required that the box it came in must indicate that.

Powers on, no heat

I have this model heater and it quit working as well. I took it apart to find that the plastic bosses that the safety switch mounts/screws to melted and the switch fell into the bottom of the heater rendering the heater useless.
FYI, The safety switch removes power from the heater when the heater is laying on it's front or back incase it gets knocked over while it is on.
This is a serious defect. These heaters should be recalled.
