SOURCE: Wire does not feed on MIG welder

my lincoln mig welder did the same exact thing!! I thought what you did, drive motor bad. But it wasn't, on mine there is a reset/breaker button, it's like a 25 amp fuse that can be reset, it was bad! so I took the 2 wires that went in and out of it and jumped them together (not advised) to see if it would work then. BINGO!! now I have to find replacement. Look inside for a fuse or some thing like that.
hope this helps, oh yeah, when I ask the mechanic at the welding store he said that drive motors rarely go bad!!

This could be caused by not enough pressure on the drive wheel. Try adjusting pressure as spelled out in you manual.

Dont think you want to hook directly to 110 with the motor. I believe the motor runs on DC so I hooked up a battery charger to mine to see if motor was good.

My trigger to my millermatic 250 won't stop feeding the wire even when switch is not pressed

Does it feed with the trigger plug removed from the machine? If so, then it is a circuit board. If no, then wires shorted somewhere in the gun.

Lincon mig stops feeding wire

Been welding for a while, open side, check for proper tension on the feed wheel inside side panel, hit the trigger, if feed motor continues to spin tensioner needs tightened or mig wire may be getting hung up inside main cable lead. If motor is off on off on then its probbably the switch on the trigger getting a bad good connection, hope this helps o and check welding tip on gun end, may need replaced if worn or melted, unscrews.

Lincoln 140 hd turns on but doesnt feed wire when trigger is pressed

Hi:

Try by-passing the trigger switch by disconecting the trigger cable cord (not the gun) and using a wire bridge the connector at the machine, if the motor turns, then your problem is the gun switch, that's an easy replacement, if not then you have a problem with the motor itself or the pc board and you will need to sent it in to a pro for repair.

Wire feed motor stop working. When trigger is pressed motor attempts to turn but does so in short choppy intervals. Removed the wire from feed and motor does the same thing.

Sounds like a broken wire in the cable from the trigger to the control board - or the switch in the handle is crapping out.

If it's had a fair amount of use, or has been bent into some seriously oddball or tweaky positions, it might be time for a new feed line and trigger assembly.

My hobart handler 120 will not feed wire. took the feed motor off and tested. Its good. checked the trigger connections and they are both in good shape. The gas valve does click when the trigger is pulled....

First take our the spool of wire, then without any wire restriction, disconnect the gun from the machine and bridge the trigger connection, if the solenoid valve opens then the motor shoulod run. If it does, then check the trigger on your gun, take it off and bridge the cables, if it runs then your trigger switch is faulty.

My P11897 washer pump runs until I connect the

Dear Davidandkath,
I am assuming that by feed hose you mean the water supply inlet. Well if you connect the water supply inlet and the gun is closed, then the machine will stop. This is normal. Now if you open the gun and the machine still stays dead...then the control valve that operates a micro switch is stuck in a position that leaves the micro switch off.
So you must open machine and see a spill valve(pressure control valve)...this will have a cap on it with a wire. This wire is feeding electricity to the micro switch. You can lubricate the spill valve, but myself I change with a new one. You must also check that the micro switch is OK. To open the outer cover there are screws which are normaly TORX ..T15 size. Another reason for the machine to stop dead is that the outlet hose is blocked or the wand( Gun ) is blocked.
Regards,
Fulltech.

My Hobart 175 Handler wire feed stops shortly after the arc is struck. Recovers in about 20 seconds. Motor protection ckt is probably doing it. No restriction in feed cable or gun, wire moves smoothly....

Yes sounds like it is "Detecting" a "Fault" condition and shutting down the Arc for safety, then it recovers, and it repeats, I think, you should Check, your Earth leads, Connections, and Overcurrent Protection Threshold if there is a control. Check power is going to the feed motor at time of arc, and if it is still getting enough or if it, the voltage to it,"Sags" under load...In this case it is a power supply problem.

Wire doesn't feed

Either the trigger mechanism in the gun is bad, the servo that turns the feed wheel is bad, or you have too much tension on the adjustable tensioner knob. Take the wire out of the feed wheel, plug unit in and see if you can get the wheel to turn. If not, it is the trigger or the servo. If it turns, the tensioner was too tight.
