Sounds like a bad overload/relay . On the compressor , with the refrig unpluged , pry off the box on the side of the compressor with 2 or 3 wires going to it . If you have a meter that beeps on the continuity setting , touch the 3 compressor pins 2 at a time . If no beep , compressor is bad . If a beep from either of the 3 pins to the copper lines connected to the compressor , then the compressor is shorted . If all 3 pins beep , replace the overload/relay pt # 12002784 .
NOTE : if you do not have access to a meter , shake the relay ( black piece ) and listen for rattle noise . If rattles , its bad .

Constant loud noise when frig turns on/comes from bottom

when the compressor is running unplug the ref. and if you hear the noise coming from the compressor then
a ballance spring may be broken inside the compressor.

The compressor will run normally with a broken spring it will just be annoying when it shuts down.

You amy ahave a bvad capacitor on the outside unit. It starts the fan and the compressor. You can change this yourself. Open the outside panel and you will see a silver canister with terminals out the top. Replace this and I think your problem will go away. On the cap. it will say something like 30uf 5uf 370 ot 440 Just get these numbers and get a new one. Russ

Loud buzzing noise from inside Jenn Air 2389G fridge

i don't know jennair specifically being from england.
however, there is often a fan inside the back panel and the noise you heard was the fan hitting ice. the reason now not heard and fridge not working may be that the ice has built up so much the fan is jammed

huthy, the fact that it's lasting 15 to 20 seconds leads me to believe that it could be one of the fan blades hitting. The valve springs on the compresser would make more of a clunk-clunk noise and wouldn't last that long. The evaporator fan in the freezer compartment has a grille that will snap on and off, clip on the bottom and tabs on the side. See if you can remove the grill and check to see if there is any ice build up around the evap. fan. The other fan, condensor is in back by the compressor, it could be hitting on the shroud upon start up or shut down. Check these things first and post back...Catriver

Fridge keeps ticking when not running???

Kevin, I'm going to give you a few scenerios to check out. The evaporator fan, inside the freezer will sometimes come in contact with ice and make this noise. Check your condensor fan, in back and make sure that is not hitting the shroud. If the overload on the compressor is tripping it will make a clicking sound, but it would be about every 4 to 5 minutes. If the unit goes into defrost, the evaportor coils tend to make a clicking sound. If you can be more specific as to where the noise is coming from, we might be able to help you better...Catriver...post back.
