Question about LaCie Photon 18blue (Blue) 18 in. Flat Panel LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Screen goes black

Hi I have a LaCie Photon 18 blue that I bought new in 2002. My operating system is OS 10.5 (mac). In the last two months it has stopped working efficiently with the following issue: the screen goes black after an indeterminate amount of time-it varies. Sometimes I'll get a couple of days out of it. On other days it will work for only minutes before going black. I have checked the connections, and they seem to be good. I have unplugged them and then plugged them back in. It hasn't changed the problem. Could this be a heat related issue? Any ideas on the cause of the problem and solution? Thanks Michael Or is it something else

Lacie 324 screen turned blue

yeah mine too ... was working fine then came up Blue screen. switched back to another laCie 324 monitor happen to have. Called LaCie who said they only replace these as it is cost prohibitive to repair or service... oh and I had it 18 months and they wanted me to pay for a new one and after I send it back if it is not working and is covered under warranty they will reimburse ... what kind of customer no service is that.

It could be that your new mac has a newer operating system on it, so I think you should be using the new itego backup assistant from iomega see http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?id=10323 this tells you what it does and you can also download it from here as well

Hope this helps

the problem is that your lacie drive operates using the NTFS (New Technology File System) under USB which is the standard file system of Windows. Apple mac is not interopable with native NTFS therefore you need to install a read-write NTFS file-system driver on your mac if you wish to use it via the USB connection.

an excellent free mac NTFS driver can be found here-
http://mac.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/NTFS-3G.shtml

download and install the software then restart your mac.

LaCie Photon 19 Vision streaks and has visual distortions.

One thing you could try is unplugging and replugging the video cable from the monitor and from the computer, I have often found that fixes a blurry monitor.

Resolution issue Acer V223w

Hi, I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble....
THis is a tricky one. My first step would be to connect another screen to your G5 and connect your V223w to another Mac... Are you able to do this, do you have access to another system, could even be a PC ( in the worst case )
Ideally, having 2 screens connected to your G5 would be the best situation.
THis way, with one working screen, you can attempt to modify the resolution and refresh rates on the V223w from the good screen, be sure to activate screen mirroring, otherwise you will not have access to the other window of monitors system preferences.
If you can get two monitors connected and mirroring is not an option, then either your monitor is KAPUT or the video card secondary port is KAPUT, try switching the port of the card your displays are connected to. I think they are both DVI ports. If the opposite screen is now working, then you know it's the port on the video card.
Hope this will get you through it.

Mac OS X Blue Screen

You might need to do an Archive and Install installation, this will transfer your existing Mac OS X system files to a folder named Previous System, and then it will install a new copy of Mac OS X on the volume you have selected.
