. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

SOURCE: 42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

Our LG 50" plasma tv screen went black after a popping noise but still had sound, after great diliberations decided to take the back off and have a peek!
We unplugged the tv and tested the fuses (there were three we could see) one had blown, the one on the left as you look at the back of the tv it also has one above it. We wrote the code/seriel number down and took the fuse to the electrical wholesalers Maplin and bought a pack of 10 fuses for £1.29 replaced the fuse in the tv and everything now fine!!!!!!
Hope this might be of use to anyone whose lost the picture after a loud popping/snacking noise but still has sound.

SOURCE: Sony KV34XBR800 Red Flashing Standby Light No Power

The red light should be blinking a code. For example it will blink 4 times pause then 4 times pause or 5times pause 5 times pause, whatever the error might be. Let me know what it is and then we can help more.

SOURCE: My 42"LG 50 TV will not turn on

One important step to see if you are having an internal problem is to perform a power drain.

1. Unplug the product's power cable so that the device is not grounded to the house. Do not simply turn off the power-bar if one is in use.
2. Press and hold in the products power button for 1 minute to release the retained electricity from the capacitors and circuit board. 3. Plug the product back into the wall outlet rather than a power-bar to rule it out of contributing to the problem and turn the device back on.
If this does not work but you are still seeing a LED lit up, there is probably a problem between the TV's power supply and the mainboard and service maybe required.

SOURCE: LG 42'' TV has no sound but great picture. How do I get the sound?

You shouldn't need anything plugged into the accessory jacks to get local sound from your set. Go through the main setup menu and check audio settings; they may be set to turn off the internal speakers to send the sound to a home theatre that you apparently don't have. Most sets have that as a selection and supply L-R audio for an external system and mute the internal speakers.
FYI: The three connectors you mention are coded as follows:
Red - right channel audio White - left channel audio Yellow - composite video (contains synchronization signals and video)
These may be input connectors (for external VCR/DVD decks) so check your owner's guide to verify.

No picture on LG 42LK450-UB TV Red standby light at plug in and blue light on power. Removed cover and no backlights lit Is the board that drives the backlights bad and is board part of the PS board.

Hey Marc,
You question is a little open..... there is more info needed to help narrow down the problem. If it is a backlight issue you should still get sound out of it and you should be able to take a flashlight and shine it on the screen and start to see a picture( note this part takes a little patience and staring, it will be hard to see it but you will if it is there). The backlight driver board is a separate board ( here it is at shopjimmy http://www.shopjimmy.com/auo-19-42t14-001-backlight-inverter.htm ) You could also have a bad main board: example- no back light, no pic, no sound, but it seems to turn on and off. In that example the firmware on the main board became corrupted due to a failing board, so check those places above and feel free to order that backlight board.

Lg 42" tv not displaying screen image

The t-con board controls the picture. To test it shine a flash light on the screen abd see if you can see an image when the TV is on. If you do then the T-con board is OK. Look at the back light ballast board (sometimes is part of the power supply board) If you see no movement or a dim picture with the flash light, then the T-con board is gone. Sound but no picture

Dim the lights in the room, grab a bright flash light. Turn on the set and shine the light on the screen. Do you see a faint picture? If you do, you have a backlight problem. Let me know what you find

My 42" hd Sanyo flat

chances are your backlight inverter circuit has failed, repaired one a few months back with the same problem. To verify this, take the tv in a dark room. plug it in and take a bright\ flash light and shine it on the screen. turn the set on, you should see either the screen saver or video from your source. If this is the case, your inverter is at fault. Depending on your model, your backlight inverter is built onto your power supply board so you will have to replace the power supply/inverter board. Not hard to do, you can do it yourself with care.

Screen went blank sound still works LG will not help me except to say pay for it yourself. I have only had tv 3.5 years and hope it is just the fuse but how do I get to it?

Before diving into the TV, make a simple check.
Take a flash light and shine close up onto the TV while it is running, if you can see picture then that tells you the inverter board is bad. If your backlight comes on and you can't see any picture then your video board has failed. If neither your backlight or video work then your power supply isn't feeding the proper voltages to those boards.
Since you have sound it most likely isn't the power supply, although stranger things have happened. Check the power supply last in this case.
From these checks you can isolate your problem and then dive into the TV.

Screen displays no signal after a power failure; can hear sound, no picture

It's either the backlight lamp or backlight light inverter is busted due to the power failure. Here's how to determine which is which:
  1. Grab a flashlight.
  2. Turn on the TV.
  3. Shine the flashlight onto the screen.
  4. If you cannot see any display even a faint one, the backlight inverter is dead, else the backlight lamps are busted.
  5. Replace which ever is the culprit.

Screen goes completely out.

when it blanks out, tuen the lights out in the room, and shine a flash light at the screen, see if you can see the picture, if you can, it is the inverter moard blamking out, thats the board that lights the back lights, if you cant, hit the input button on the remote, if the TV comes back with a picture, it is a problem with the main board, in paticular the componant input on the main board
