SOURCE: flourescant lights flickering

is there a ballast or a starter? if there is a starter (little silver metal or white plastic can), then replace the transformer inside the lamp housing. if there is a ballast (long black rectangle with many wires) and you replaced that and the lamp, then there must be a power drain in the unit somewhere.

SOURCE: two different size ultraviolet ballast. The .71AMP

I usually test the ballast simply by excluding everything else.

1) Put in bulb that you know works
2) Replace starter (if you have one)
3) check that wiring is intact (sounds like it is for you but I had one light that the wiring barely made contact so sometimes it came on and sometimes it blinked)
4) If all that is good, then it's probably the ballast.

Plugged in to 220 volts now it plugged into 120 volts. I replaced all bulbs with new ones still won't come on. What is next?

Hello Jerry
your post was answered in your other post. Please only post once so that all the answers are in one place.

There is more to it that just the bulbs. You have blown all the chokes/ballasts that supply the power to the tubes. Nothing is going to survive twice the recommended voltage.I found this from an old Fixya posting.

You probably have T8 ballasts controlling your lights which are electronic. Its pretty much a sure bet that these are fried and will need to be replaced. Open up the tray that is between the bulbs and write down the F32T8x? Number that is on the front of the ballast. The ? Will be the number of bulbs it is designed to run. As long as the number matches up you can just cut the old ballast out and it wire the new one in. Ballasts generally run ~ $20 a piece. Hope this helps!

I have a Sunquest Pro 24S four upper bulbs went out together. I changed bulbs and starters. What else can it be?

Assuming the ballasts are good, Do a continuity check on the tombstones. If one stab wire arcs out, it could daisy chain down several bulbs. You can also wiggle the wires at the tombstones and see if the bulbs light up. If you replace tombstones, be sure to select the same style shunted or unshunted (electronic ballasts will be shunted).

You may have a wire burned out going to that set of ballasts/bulbs. Have a trained technician to check and repair this.

One of my two hps bulbs is brighter than the other one the bulbs and one of the ballast are new the other ballast is a year old

Hi .. it could be the ballast .. an easy thing to do to troubleshoot this would be to swap the lamps. If the problem follows the lamp. then that is the problem. If the pronblem stays with the fixture, then I would replace the ballast in that fixture.

Hello...need help.. replaced 600mh bulb then

Have you tried the switch yet? The plastic switches inside some ballast boxes don't do well with the heat produced by the ballast. You can try to simply bypass the switch and hard wire the ballast to the plug to test whether or not that might be your issue. If you need a new switch, just call Sunlight Supply directly http://www.sunlightsupply.com/hort/contact.aspx they should be able to send you a replacement switch.

Under cabinet light not working

probably not defective bulbs. Flourescents use either a starter and transformer or a ballast. When lights are weak, could be either. Very simple to change too. One other thing, could be connections that go into the lamp holders. If not good connections, light will be dim. On a stretch, if unit is located in an area that us lower than about 50 degrees, this could cause them to be dim. Check ratings on ballast/ starter and transformer. Finally, if voltage is either too high or too low, this could be a dimming problem too. If it has worked in the past, and this is a current problem, then chances are it's not the voltage but may want to check it anyway to eliminate that possibility.
