Question about LG Refrigerators

1 Answer

I have a new LG bottom freezer frig. The bottom freezer drawer makes a scraping sound when you open and close the drawer like the tracks have not been lubricated - any advice, it's very aggravating.

If there is stuff in the unit make sure it isn't rubbing the bottom of an upper shelf or top of the cabinet.

it made the noise right out of the box, when empty. It is clearly the sliding rails on the sides of the freezer drawer

sometimes it is easy to miss packing material. Recheck that - otherwise it sounds like a warranty issue. It could be more serious than just grease missing.

Kitchen aid French door refrigerator has freezer drawer at bottom that doesn't open after being in storage for over a year

Use a hair dryer to heat it and try spraying some silicone spray such as WD 40 around the tracks. Something has dried and caused it to stick. Try removing the top of the drawer from the frig. It you can, it will be a lot easier to un-stick

The bottom freezer drawer is not closing so the freezer is getting an ice build up

It sounds like you either have a drawer that's off track, or something has fallen behind the drawer, not allowing the drawer to close. Empty the freezer, and pull the drawer all the way out. Look behind the basket of the drawer and see if some thing has fallen behind it. If nothing is behind the drawer, then the drawer must be off track. At this point, you'll need to pull the drawer out to the most extended point. Now push the drawer back in about 3-4 inches an **** it open fairly hard. Not hard enough to move the whole refrigerator. Just enough to put the drawer back on track. Hope this helps. : )

There is frost on the back of the freezer and the food is not fro

Your frig is not going into the defrost cycle. Locate the defrost time and advance it one click. Remove every thing from the freezer section of the frig and remove the rear panel. Observe to see if the defrost heater gets hot.
If it gets hot, replace the defrost timer. If it doesn't get hot, unplug the frig and take a multi meter and while the freezer is still cold check to see if the defrost thermostat (a round disk with two wires comming from it located on the evaporator) and make sure the curcuite is closed. If open replace defrost thermostat. If closed check the resistance across the heater. If no resistance, replace heater.

Loud compressor noise from lg frig...

The sound you hear is the Freezer Fan, this problem is hard to diagnose, because the fan spins but not fast enough to circulate chilled air thru the freezer and refrigerator. The minimum labor and material cost for the repair/replacement is around $300.00. But if you chose to make the repair yourself the motor alone costs around $80.00@appliancefactoryparts.com. But the repair is very labor because the electrical connection for this fan is at the rear of the unit

Bottom freezer door opens when top door is open and then closed

the door pops open because freezer and frig. are connected together via duct. air pressure builds when you swing ref door closed. apply a small amount of vasoline to the surface of the hinge side of both gaskets. this will aid in door closure. also the unit may be not level

My freezer is frosting...there is snow all over

In my case with constant snow and frost build-up in my bottom drawer GE freezer, it was because the drawer never properly closed. As one user noted, "there is no adjustment." However, there are "catches" at the rear of the drawer glides and in my case one needed adjustment because it was preventing the drawer from remaining closed tightly. SEE PHOTOS. The photos show many items removed, but to make this repair, you only need a butter knife to pop out the black plastic catch mechanisms at the back end of the drawer glides, and only if you can see that the spring is not properly positioned. Bottom freezer door/drawer won't close all the way on one side.

Remove all the food from the freezer and then the drawer from the cabinet. Now using a silicone based lubricant, lube the tracks up real well. Be sure to clean the tracks first if gunked up. Make sure nothing small fell out of the basket over time and is laying on the floor in the rear of the freezer section. Once done, you should be fine.
