SOURCE: I have a large dearborn heater(da-6065e) 65000 btu that I want to convert to propane. I need to know the orifice sizes I need. Most haven't heard of one this large.

there is a site --www.eastwaysales.com>products
that have spares for your heater including propane use spares
try contacting them and seeing if jets are available for propane gas
you could alsays contact a local gas fitter that does conversion from one gas to the other as all it entails is a new jet size ( larger for natural gas) and a repositioning of the air shroud to get the gas air mixture right to get the blue flame
gas fitter should have a chart for jet sizes required for certain gas flows for btu unis

My gas Dearborn model#drc40mc pilot light stays lit.when I turn to on position and heater comes on , it burns high , even on low number setting, then after few seconds goes out taking pilot out also

clean/replace the flame sensor. Your heater doesn't recognize that it has lit and continues to try and light the gas. when the sensor doesn't tell the 'brain' it lit? it shuts down the gas for safety reasons.

How do i convert my dearborn gas heater to propane

There is a pilot, burner orfice spuds, and a gas valve pressure regulator spring that comes in a conversion kit that you will need. It will come with instructions. Google the manufacturer for a dealer near you. Hope this helps.

When I let go the pilot button and the flame is on the minute I let go to turn it to max it die down each time!! what is wrong?

If you are running on butane try switching to propane, on cold nights butane will slow down and go out. If using propane then the first consumable item that fails on a patio heater is a Thermcouple, this will cause the pilot to go out if worn. Found this site very useful with lots of Patio Heater Problem pages.

Is there a kit to change from propane to natural gas for a Daton model # 3e239e unit heater. I have talked to Graingers and they don't know and they say the unit has been discontinued. If there is can you...

Bill, the model number is good, but won't get anybody the part number of the gas valve. Basically, there are 2 issues to address, the pilot orifice size and the pressure regulator. Get the numbers off of the gas valve (OEM numbers, brand) (likely White-Rogers or Honeywell), and search via manufacturer for conversion kit. (Generally a spring and a pilot orifice). Should you locate a kit, be prepared to have someone properly adjust the manifold pressure once installed. Also, as the make things cheaper, sometimes they are built for one fuel or the other and sealed. You may end up buying a new gas valve. Being raised in a propane plant, I recall their skill-set far superior to general HVAC guys (like myself) in this arena. As propane conversions are a part of everyday life for them (temporarily making a furnace run on propane during construction and switching over once the gas line is hooked up), they are probably a good starting point!

How to light the pilot on a dearborn room heater

Turn the knob to PILOT. press the knob down. Light the pilot and hold the knob till the pilot stays lit by itself. Then advance the knob to the ON position. Turn up the thermostat.

Can't raise flame level

Obviously, if you read my post, I DIDN'T solve the problem because the problem WASN'T with a PRINTER but with a HEATER. I know that there are Dearborn heaters all over the place, but for some reason your site doesn't want to address them.
