My tv shuts off all by itself

Well my tv shuts off every 36 seconds, but sometimes it stays on. but when it does stay on it it is for about fifteen to thirty minutes. sometimes it stays on for the whole day, usually on sundays. since i live near a church, it might be possible that the church has the parking lot sensored, if so could that be keeping my television on?

No the sensors wont interfere with your tv going off. You might have a timer set on the TV or there might be something wrong with it.

Sound Fades, then TV shuts off then continues to recycle on & off

Sometims several capacitors start going bad giving you the audio problem, but I don't remember the set turning itself off. That could be a secondary problem around the flyback transformer which may have a bad solder connection. I would check that first. Otherwise, I would be tempted to go with HDTV.
