If the coil (in the freezer) is icing up then it's not being properly defrosted on a regular basis, ie. 2 - 3 times a day. On older models it's usually just a simple matter of replacing the defrost timer. On newer models, the defrost timer is integral with the 'motherboard', so the whole (expensive Chinese made) motherboard must be replaced because they're not serviceable.
Less likely (but possible) are the defrost heating element and/or temperature sending unit found on or near the coil itself. Least likely is a low refrigerant level, which would indicate a leak.
