SOURCE: Maytag Bravo Washer flashes F50 code

Most likely a bad machine control, can also possibly be a motor per whirlpool but I have never had to change a motor, changed a lot of machine controls.

I can not open the door on my Maytag top loading washer

Many new washer use a lid lock instead of a brake to keep people from reaching into the spinner before it stops. You probably have a
bad lid lock. Have a repair man open the top cover and repair or replace the lid lock.

I have a maytag centennial washer MVWC400XWO it is 3 years old. The washer has stopped after the initial wash cycle leaving the cloths wet in a tub full of water. The washer will not go to the spin/drain...

For saftey the lid lock and lid down switch must be activated before the machine can advance to the next cycle. This has been the sequence for all top loaders..

Check the switch for the lid it is likely defective.

Make sure that the power is removed.

Simple repair by a qualified technician.

Hope this helps?

My washer has filled up with water and then just stopped and wont begin the cycle...

Try manually advancing timer . If washer starts , timer motor is bad or gets stuck , or water level switch is bad and not sending power to timer.

If washer doesn't start ,the lid switch is stuck not sending power to timer or god forbid, timer is shot.

In some models , lid switch controls everything which may be your problem .Try manually operating lid switch or jumping it with jumper wire.Or just replacing. Its' the easiest to fix and most likely problem.

Good luck

Our staked washer dryer model 41790872991 washer will fill with water but nothing else I think the motor must have died

The first thing to check is power to the unit then the lid switch. If the lid switch is not making contact the washer will fill but will not run. Turn off all the power to the unit. Remove the front panel with to philips screws on the front bottom, rock the bottom towards you and the panel will come down and off. The lid switch is on the top right side. Take an ohm reading on the switch, it should measure close to 0 ohms when the lid is closed and infinite ohms or no reading when the lid is open. Note: There may be four wires going to this switch 2 for the switch contacts and 2 for the door lock if this washer has a lock. In this case take the panel off between the washer and dryer and connected to the panel will be a wiring diagram and you will need to determine the color of wires that is making contact for the lid switch. If the switch is not the culprit please repost as this could be a timer or motor problem. The motors do not usually fail in these washers.
Thank you

Maytag mav7000aww washing machine doesn't work

Ok, I figured it out, at least my problem.  The short answer is that you need to replace the lid switch assembly, maytag mav7000aww part no. 12001908.
To verify you have the same problem as I do, remove the rear cover to the control panel (three philips head screws and two machine bolts, see no. 14.)  Use a volt meter to verify that you have power coming into the lid switch assembly harness (black wire).  Use the volt meter to verify that you have no power coming out of the lid switch assembly harness (red and yellow wires.)
To further verify that you have the same problem as I do, remove the wire harness from the lid switch assembly and use a ohm meter to verify that the switch is not allowing power transmission.  In the lid closed position (lid switch depressed), use ohm meter to test line-to-motor and line-to-machine connections.
If you verify that you have no power down-circuit of the lid switch assembly using the two methods above, then you have my problem.  In this case, you can purchase the part noted at top for less than $25.
