Re: Freezer Door will not open

No, there isn't. You've got something holding the door mechanically. It could be ice...rare...or it could be something shifted inside. You can use a fair amount of force to open the door. Do not pry on it. Usually, you can take the door of the hinges. Generally, there is a fitting on top of the hinge which is made of plastic. This covers the hinge bolts. If you have a water dispenser, turn off the water and unplug the water line and electric lines at the lower hinge. Remove the upper hinge bolts and remove the is heavy, get help and have a pile of towels to set the door edge on. Find your problem and remedy it.

Open freezer door. On top You will see 2 or 3 switches. Push all of them, if light in the freezer did not go off - you have bad door switch, if it did go off try same thing with fresh food door. Door switches do go bad once in a while on this fridges. Thanks

Why won't interior lights go off

Bad door switch. Replace it or just ignore it. Use LED light so it will not produce heat in the frig.

Gsc3pgxcfss warm fridge, freezer working fine, lights off in fridge

James, not sure I understand your message when you say both lights go off, but later say lights begin working. Do you mean they go off when you push the buttons at the door? And when you say no cold air comes from the freezer, is the freezer door closed? See if air begins flowing with freezer door open. If so it would indicate the return air path from the refrigerator to freezer is blocked.....damper staying closed or evaporator coil frozen up. The return air path has to be open to allow the freezer to keep sending out cold air to refrigerator when freezer door is closed. You might thoroughly defrost to make sure coil is not frozen.
If the door button for the refrigerator light is bad it can signal that the door is open all the time, so the freezer will never send cold air to the refrigerator. And that will be good news. Door switches are cheap. If you don't have a volt meter and know how to check switch, just remove the door switch from the refrigerator, leaving wires dangling, and close the door with a thermometer inside to see if it begins cooling (or just wait a while) I had that problem a year ago and was happy to find a bad door switch. More often it's a frozen coil, and that can be more expensive to fix. Sometimes you can discover a bad switch by pushing in the door button and the light stays on, but it doesn't sound like your situation.....sounds more like a frozen coil. If so, maybe all this extra information will help someone else.

It sounds like your auger motor has an issue in my opinion. How i check them is: remove ice bin, open freezer door, hold door switch down, depress the freezer ice dispenser button on the door and see if the auger motor has the torque when it turns, if the motor has power and turns but cant turn w/ torque or has power and dosen't turn. you need a new auger motor. lmk if u need more help!

The freeze part of the machine still works fine. The main part just isnt getting cool.

Check fan in freezer is operating, may turn off once door is open, locate the door switch and push in the button ( it will be around the freezer cab where the door closes on to it), If the fan runs, then your defrost heater element is the usual cause. You will have to disassemble the cooling unit at the rear internal of the freezer section, test the element by direct connection of neut+active to live circuit. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE NOT QUALIFIED, CAN BE FATAL.
If the heater element does not get hot, replace and problem solved, if it does, replace defrost timer and thermo switch. Hope that helps, Please ensure the unit is unplugged from any power source.

My ice maker makes plenty of ice, no problem with the water either. My problem is that the auger will not turn to dispense the ice out of the bin. The motor kicks on when you push in the buttom, however it...

Pull the ice bucket out, then hold in on the door light switches and while you push a glass into the button for ice (may require two people). Ice dispenser and auger will only work, when you push for ice, when the freezer door is closed, so by holding the light switch(s) in the off position with door open you can simulate door being closed. If you can push the button and see the auger drive turn (with ice bucket out) then check to see if you have some ice stuck between the blades on the bucket, if the auger motor doesn't turn, it may be "ice frozen". Common problem. Remove motor, let sit on counter for about three hours and then reinstall, if it then works then check for water dripping from the fill tube, where the water comes into freezer for the ice maker, and see if it is dripping onto auger motor.

If you put auger motor back in and it still won't turn then more and likely you need an auger motor.

Let me know.

The auger arm doesn't turn. The ice maker still makes ice, it just can't dispense.

Take the ice container with auger inside it and defrost it. Withe the door open to the freezer push the switch that turns light on in freezer to turn it off. Have someone push the ice dispenser switch while you hold the light button in. Tell me if there is any movement in the auger motor in rear and let me know what you find. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Amana Bottom Freezer door when shut starts a noise

The light is switched on and off by a small lever which is pushed when closing or opening the door. This operates a microswitch. It would not make any grinding noise. Grinding noise can come from the fanmotor which would also stop when the fridge door is open.

Fridg not cold

your story is very odd but likely nobody is messing with the door switch hwen you moved , or the wires could have shorted out. normally, the door switch, when you open a door would switch on a cabinet light and turn off the blower. in your case, its the reverse, as you open a door, the blower runs and if you close the door, the blower stops. im not sure if you can figure out which pair is the normally close and which one is the normally open on the door switch in order to swap them or you may rplace the door switch.
