Question about Kenmore 5553 / 655532 / 55534 / 55539 Side by Side Refrigerator
Is there a switch to turn or button to push?
No, there isn't. You've got something holding the door mechanically. It could be ice...rare...or it could be something shifted inside. You can use a fair amount of force to open the door. Do not pry on it. Usually, you can take the door of the hinges. Generally, there is a fitting on top of the hinge which is made of plastic. This covers the hinge bolts. If you have a water dispenser, turn off the water and unplug the water line and electric lines at the lower hinge. Remove the upper hinge bolts and remove the door...it is heavy, get help and have a pile of towels to set the door edge on. Find your problem and remedy it.
