Deck engagement cable installation

If this is for the models with the handle along side the seat ..the cable attaches to the end of the of the the handle and then runs behind the seat under the rear fenders and then snakes back to the deck where it to a spring on the deck or a spring that comes with the kit...the cable plus on the spring to get the tension on the belts...some differ but presets much the same.system ..if the ok'd or broken one is still on use it as an example..good luck

I have a yard man 13AH762F752 How do I know what size my deck is I thought it was a 38" and bought v-type belt and it is to shore so how do I find out my deck size?

If you have a single idler pulley you should have a 38" deck. If the deck has two idlers, then you must have a 42"deck. You should be able to approximate by measuring. This is the "cutting" width, not overall width. Two things might have happened. You didn't get the right belt, or you haven't routed it properly. Here is a link to the Yardman web site to download your manual if you don't have it. It appears that the 38" deck requires a longer belt than the 42" deck.

Check the main pully and also the two spindle pully's. Sometimes the pully's split and you won't really know unless you have a real good look. Also, the belt may be worn to a point where it won't turn in the pully's when the tension is on.

My MTD Yardman HE4160 just stopped yesterday, as I look under it i notice the problem is the drive belt from front to back has popped off. I have refitted, but there is a tensioner pulley in the center...

You can start by getting a manual here:

The above web site also has a "parts finder" that gives detailed drawings for each model.

If you look around under the mower, you should be able to find the hole, or bracket where the spring was hooked. (look for rub marks, or scratches)

If the spring just fell off for no apparent reason, it may have been connected to a bracket that broke off (rust, vibration, etc) It is usually easier to make a new bracket then to try finding a replacement.
