Cannot get it to go past the TomTom logo screen, but if I hold the on button down it comes up with a load of technical data, then the pale green screen comes on, it looks like it's going to come on, but it goes back to the main TomTom logo and then it goes off; it's on the charger when it does this, as there's nothing at all happening if it's off the charger
As soon as I take it off the charger it goes off; it did this once before and then miraculously started to work properly....now it's done it again\r\n
My first problem was that when i pressed the on / of button it flickered( green light) but did not activate the tomtom. even after a long charge it did not seem to retain its charge. i replaced the battery and immediately it sprung into life. so being a new battery i put it on charge over night. in the morning i tried to use it and it shut down after 10 mins . it has been on charge again and though when the on/of light is now constant the machine does still now not switch on. can you help me please . Thankyou David

Hopefully all you need to do is a soft reset. To do this use a streightened paper clip and insert it into the small round hole marked reset on the bottom of your tt. Gently press the reset button in until you feel a click. Hold the reset button in for 20 seconds.
Hope this does the job.
Hi there, Yes, I too have experienced a problem with locking up when I take my TomTom 910 out of the dock after being connected to my computer. I also took my TomTom back to shop and was shown how to do a Hard Re-set on it. Firstly, you have to locate the reset button (which I see you have. Why it is hidden away in such an awkward position I don't know. I carry a pin/paperclip around with me for this purpose!) Press the reset button once until the TomTom screen switches off. Then with the TomTom off press AND HOLD DOWN the On button on top of your TomTom. Keep holding as white computer script appears on the screen. Carry on holding down until the remainder of the script appears to almost fill up the screen with script info and then this stops. Then release the On button and the TomTom icon will appear. After 2 to 3 minutes the TomTom should switch to show the current location map and look for satellites. Locking on to satellites can then take up to 15 minutes by the way. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!
Had exactly the same prob on mine. The reset button is at the back of the unit, underneath the top, above and to the right of the dock connector.
Best way to see it is to hold the tomtom upside down with the screen facing towards you. Find the dock connector (circular connection at one end, with a row of pins to it's right), look above and you'll see a cut out with a pin hole in it.
In the age old tradition, an unfolded paperclip is the weapon of choice here. Place the paperclip in the hole and that's the reset button.
Here's a pic I found on www.tomtomforums.com (posted by Pedro2NR)
I have seen the green screen problem a few times before and this was caused by corrupted data / software or an error in booting up.
If you can't turn any TomTom off then perform a reset by inserting a paper clip into the rest hole and give 1 short press of the reset button ( it's a tactile switch so you should feel it click ) then try switching the TomTom on again the normal way. ( reset buttons are normally found through a small hole underneath the TomTom ).
If the TomTom does switch on but continues as before with the loading up problem , then it's best to format and reload all files from your backup copy.
