Hi its a Sandstorm fridge freezer. I was cleaning the fridge part and alarm sounded that door was open too long. I closed it but opened again to put pieces back in and it just stopped working. No power to it at all. Checked plug socket and fuse everything OK .

Ice can build up inside the thermostat and mechanism housing when the door is left open and then stay stuck stopping the compressor from going on until the refrigerator is defrosted. If you see water dripping or a puddle inside the unit then it needs to be defrosted.

Maytag fridge right door won't stay closed

it may be necessary to reset the hinge adjustment to move the door further across the opening giving the magnets a better area to hold on to . there is a slight amount of adjustment in the mounting points of the hinges. You may have to replace the door gaskets as they become hard over time and the magnets cannot work properly in the hard plastic

hi. thanks for the question. leaving the door open ,would let a lot of moisture to enter the freezer, and cause it to frost up. to clear frost. cut power to fridge, open the doors .,let thaw over nite clean up the water mess. dry the inside of fridge & freezer turn power on good to go. to stop the door from being left open .lift the legs under the front so the fridge has more weight, and it will close by self . no more doors left open. thanks the appliance doc

Door difficult to open

Simple fix! A small puddle of water near the fridge led me (indirectly) to this fix. Our model is a fridge only, no ice or water dispenser and nothing spilled inside. Upon closer inspection I found a narrow tray along the back wall above the crisper drawers with a drain hose leading under the unit. Apparently it's a condensate drain, a plugged one at that! I cleaned it out, yuk, and soon discovered it serves a dual purpose... as a vent to help relieve the pressure from the vacuum created immediately after closing the door. It has renewed our love affair with this fridge. Hoo Hoo!

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.
