SOURCE: poulan pro series chain saw 20" bearings seizing up on bar

There's a tiny hole on the front of the bar near the bar sprocket. This is used to grease the sprocket. If you go somewhere like Lowe's look in the chainsaw section and you'll find a grease tube that is specially designed to lube the front sprocket. Before lubing use a small wire to clean out any debris from the whole. Press the lube tube against the hole and push repeatedly until grease comes out from the outside of the bar. This should greatly extend the life of the bar.

SOURCE: need true chain/bar size for my husqvarna Model 254 chainsaw

Maximum bar size of 20" but would recommend 18", if it is running sluggish, check compression, if low replace the piston, if it is 135psi or more then make sure the airfilter is clean and then tune the carb and make sure you get good revs and throttle response throughout the rev range, use the typical carb adjustments from the owners manual from the Husky web site. This is a 5hp saw and is capable of cutting some big lumps of hardwood so no excuses on the power front

No, the bar fasteners are not tight enough. If the saw is under warranty, take it to a servicing dealer for repair or instructions to correct what you are doing wrong. Good luck!

Why does my john deere chain saw leak a lot of bar oil after i get done running it?

There bar oil seal is not that great it wears out right away and leaks instead of squirting oil when you pump it.
Don't worry 80 % of all chain saw leak sooner or later. Just put oil when you use it then drain it when you store it.

I am trying to find out the bar and chain part number I was given a John Deere J3816 chain saw with no bar and chain. do you know what the part number is?

Organ makes a replacement combo bar/chain for the j3816. Part # is 105700. You should be able to find it in most stores like Lowes or Home Depot. You could also go on line to wwwOrganchain.com. Hope this helps.

What part number oregon chain do i need for a cs-52 john deere saw. They keep sending me the wrong john deere chain witch is three links short. thanks Vern.

Hello Sam;
I cannot find anything by Deere (probably an efco 152) about your saw. Oregon does list some particulars here:
Oregon Bar & Chain Selector
http://www.oregonchain.com/pro/lookups/selguide.aspx?BusId=OCS&SellReg=USA&LangId=ENG
I input:
John Deere; CS52; *see below; All (0.325"); All (0.050"); All (yours is likely green - low kickback).
*16" - 66 drive links (the part that fits in the bar).
*18" - 72 drive links.

If your saw does not use either 66 or 72 drive links I suspect the bar, drive sprocket, or drive sprocket and bar nose in use are not what the the saw was originally supplied with. Any local chainsaw seller/mechanic given your chain as a pattern can fabricate one in about 5 minutes. Often a local chain is less expensive (no shipping).

If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. HTH & Good Luck.
Lou

McCulloch Pro Mac 610 replacement chain

The McCulloch ProMac 600 series (610/650) doesn't recommend a saw chain replacement part because you can get differently-sized bars for it. This one came with a 20" bar.
According to an Amazon.com search tonight, the Oregon company makes a replacement part stock number D70. I have got an Oregon H78 replacement chain at my hardware store and it's a hair too small. Not all 20" saw chains are created equal!!
