Question about HP Pavilion a6600f Desktop PC

Zig-zag screen that freezes, then no signal on reboot

I have an HP tower with XP loaded. Was using the computer yesterday just checking email and the screen went all zig zagged and garbled and I could not do anything so I shut it down by pushing in the power button and holding it in. It came back on later and did the same thing. I tried starting it back up in safe mode and after a minute or two it did the same thing. Now I get a message on the screen saying no signal. I tried switching to a video card and made no difference. Any ideas? Is it the memory - or the card - the monitor? How can I check or switch the bios or anything else if it won't let me do anything? HELP! PLEASE! Thank you...

Yes, because a zig zag stitch is creating a wide stitch and the tension on the thread is going to pull the fabric within the seam together, you can't seam thin fabric with a wide zig zag. It will "tunnel together". If you are using this stitch to neaten a raw edge, then try using the serpentine or three step zig zag where the needle pierces the fabric 3 times in each leg of the zig zag, this will give better results.

From the pattern selector (the bigger dial), select the zig-zag stitch. Then, using the stitch length dial (the smaller dial), adjust the stitch length. The closer your stitch length is to "0", the more dense will your zig-zag stitch be.

Could be the pixal setting on the tower is too high for the TV? Can you change the video card settings to the TV Pixal rating? You could have a bad video card. Good luck.

Zig-zag settings

you probably shouldn't be using a zig zag for that application. But the multi-stitch zig zag.

Please look at page 40 of your manual for information.

As for needle breaking check to make sure your need is the correct one for the thread and fabric. Also make sure your pressure foot is the one recommended for the stitch. Consider this... most thicker fabrics require a longer stitch.

Trouble sewing lycra fabric using a zig zag stitch

You have the machine set for blind hem stitching. Change the stitch selector to stretch stitch, which is a single, in line stitching zig zag stitch.

Sounds like you have power saver turned on. Go into "display properties" under "control panel". Go to "screen saver" Check your "Power" settings. Un-check "Hibernate" or look and see power settings are and adjust accordingly. If they are all turned off, check your BIOS settings on your PC. It mights have a power saving feature in there.
