The most common issue would be the gas valve has failed or the transformer is defective, I strongly suggest you call a professional service business as this can be a fire/explosion hazard.

Why is my furnace blowing cold air?

I depends on if you have gas or electric heat. If electric, you could have blown a fuse. If gas, your pilot light may be out.

Have to think that the thermocouple has failed if the pilot is on but the furnace main burner doesn't ignite

My gas furnace is blowing cold air. I was told by gas company that it is due to a gas pipe leak. Is this true ? How will it be fixed? What problems can i expect in the future? The furnace is 20yrs old.

If the pilot light is on then it could be in the thermo coupler. If you don't know where to loon it is best to hire a professional. Gas indoors is no joke. Second is that a 20 yr old heater is pretty inefficient and a new one could be had for a little more than the repair costs of the old one and you co upd have another 20 years trouboe free

Rheem gas furnace pilot lights, but no burners or fan

If the burners do not fully ignite, the sensor will shut the furnace down. The lack of sufficient burner flame is a gas valve or gas pressure problem within the valve.
Replacing the gas valve with the original one may get you going. I surely suggest a professional service company for safety reasons and a thorough inspection. A 20 year old furnace is past it's normal life span.

How to light a American Standard furnace

If it is an old furnace with a manual pilot light there are pilot lighting instructions usually on a door or panel. If it is 15 years old or newer it probably has either a spark ignition or a hot surface ignitor. These can't be lit manually. If they fail they usually require parts to be repaired.

The pilot light for the oven went out.

Relighting Your Furnace's Pilot Light

furnace1.jpg - Turn off the gas at the main valve at your utility box - Wait five to ten minutes for gas fumes to waft away - Get a long match—yes, a fireplace match, not a standard match - Set the gas valve on your furnace to "pilot" - Press the red button as you hold the match to the pilot valve - Keep pressing the red button for 30-60 seconds so the pilot can heat the thermocouple. Release the button and see if the pilot remains lit - If pilot goes out, wait five to ten minutes and repeat the process - Once the pilot stays lit, turn the main gas valve back on - If the pilot light continues to go out, call a technician, who may need to adjust or replace your thermocouple or adjust your pilot
