The fan wont start

If the fan is hooked up with a thermostatic connection, you need to ensure that the thermostat is located where it is registering the heat. If not, try looking in the bottom behind the bottom louvres and making sure that 1. the fan is plugged in and 2. that the fan control switch underneath is turned on. If all of this is fine, make sure the outlet where the fan plugs into has power. Otherwise you need to trace all of the connection wires to the fan and ensure they are all connected. Beyond that, you may need a new fan.

If your blower/fan blows air into a "box" with tubes that conduct heated air out through the screen, that assembly may have failed. I had one that burned out and had to be replaced.

We have a BF8000ST mod C electric insert fireplace. The fan is shutting off once the unit has run for a while. Right now, we are using the fireplace to heat our 5th wheel while we are in this transition...

If you have a Dimplex Fireplace Model # bf 8000st Mod C I can tell this. 1-Yes there is a EC (emergency cutoff) switch when this unit gets too hot. 2-There is a thermostat. These units are usually placed within a wall cavity. These cavities are closed and will build up heat very fast because - there is no vent for cool air intake. RESOLVE: Go to Home supply and buy one or two 2x12 inch register vents. Custom place this new vent(s) in the cavity wall where it may have excess to cooler air from the room.
I completed one vent yesterday and the fireplace runs continually now. I plan to add the second one for balance in the next couple of days. You will be as amazed as I was. IT WORKS NOW...

Plug the new fan motor, nothing

Sounds as if the Fan Switch may also be faulty. Or the new fan motor is defective. Is the flame function on the electric fireplace working? If the flame function is working, than obviously the fault is either in the fan switch or the new fan motor.

If the motor has a regular receptacle type plug on the end of the cord, try plugging it directly to a wall outlet and see if it works. If you're able to do that, then the problem is in the fireplace's fan switch or in the wiring circuitry going to the fan motor. Perhaps, this is what was wrong all along and not the fan motor, itself.

If nothing is working, check the wall receptacle that the fireplace is plugged into, by plugging in an electric lamp. If the lamp won't turn on, then there's a circuit breaker tripped in your homes circuit breaker panel. Check the circuit breaker panel for a tripped breaker and with nothing plugged into the offending receptacle, reset the breaker. Plug the fireplace back into the receptacle, turn it on and see if it trips the circuit breaker. If it does, there's an electrical short some where in the fireplace. Look for burned or frayed wiring, as well as bad connections.

Hope this helps solve your problem.

My fireplace starts up just fine and after 15 seconds the blower and heat shut off but the flames are working fine. any ideas?

the fan on most fireplaces incerts and free standing is turned on by a click dics. if you see no change in your fire then chances are this switch is bad. follow the wires from the fan and you will fine this switch. there will be another one that protects from over heating so make sure you have the right switch if your comfortable jump the fan switch, 110volt, and if fan runs wala find a dealer and buy new switch.
