Trying to complete Windows XP Restore - Add Driver Re-install

After a complete and successful restore of my Dell Dimension 4600, the screen resolution is very low and HUGE. However I can't change it at all in the advanced settings.

I'm thinking it's a driver issue, however I can't figure out how to re-install the necessary driver, or what driver that is...

I need the restore cd for dell dimension 4600

if your restore partition is still intact, try holding down Crtl+F11 on startup.

This will access the hidden restore partiton.

Alas, if you just replaced the hard drive or reformatted it. You will need the restore disk or the version of windows that is on the COA sticker with the valid windows key.

Video problem on my Dell Dimension 4600 PC, HELP ASAP.

the resolution set by default when you load your graphics driver is outside the range of your monitors capability.

try starting in safe mode then adjust your resolution to 640 by 480 then restart.
if this works, adjust upwards to 1024 by 768
then up again till the screen blanks.
when it does, dont panic, wait 20 seconds and the settings will restore - you then have the optimum settings for your monitor.

good luck

Reformatting pc

what you need to do is put the XP cd in the cd or dvd drive first, then, when the pc is booting up press either F2 or Del depending on bios and the cmos setting screen will appear. Go to advanced cmos settings and the top line normal reads 'first boot device, this will be set at HDD or hard disk, this needs to be changed to cdrom. When you have changed it, save settings and exit, the system will now reboot and an option to boot from cd screen will appear, you then press Enter to boot from cd then follow the instructions to format or install windows.
