Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

I bought a dynamode external 3.5" floppy drive today and can't get it to work on either my vista or win10 computers. Any recommendations before taking it back to complain ? Ian

The floppy is recognised in both cases but does not respond to commands

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: external floppy drive does not work on this pc but on others

This is a Problem with the drivers in device Manager.

To Fix:

1. Uninstall the device from device manager by right clicking on it and choose uninstall. Then Scan for hardware changes by right clicking on the first one in the list (your computer's name) and choose "scan for hardware changes".

Also if the floppy drive came with a CD or DVD, you can use that to install the drivers as well.

You can request drivers from the Mitsumi manufaturer by going to this web page.

You don't have to convert your Des1 to USB. Make sure you have the correct machine and transfer method selected in 4D Configure. I used to have trouble writing to the floppy sometimes in my old Customizing software. What worked for me was: Don't put the floppy in the drive yet; hit the "Write" button; you will get a "Disk not Found" or something like that message; put the floppy in then; and click OK or the best option you will be offered. That seemed to make the program kick-start the "look for floppy" process. I belong to another Designer 1 support group and recall this subject has been discussed some time back. If I find out more information for you, I will pass it on.

Hi there,
I recommend that you upgrade to a newer technology. The flash drives and other usb CD/DVD drives are newer and "plug and play" without much hassles. ....besides they carry more in terms of storage. Slightly more expensive, but less trouble.

Kind Regards

Same problem with my MPF82E

Hi,
You see floppy drives are pretty old technology compared to the Vista environment which is the latest. Your floppy external drive will most likely run better in the Windows XP environment along with the necessary drivers on device manager under control panel...and those drivers you can also download. Am sure it will work better with windows 98 or XP.

Thanks & Kind Regards

External floppy drive does not work on this pc, states it's missing code37

Try unplugging computer power cable for 10 minutes, if computer is a laptop also remove battery for 10 mins, so to cut power to computer, this will solve problems caused by electrostatic charges on computer usb.
If it still does not work, than it means that windows drivers for usb are not working properly, in this case you will have to reinstall the system.

Need it to work with Windows Vista OS.

Your Dynex floppy should be pnp both on Vista and on XP. This means that it shouldn't need any additional driver. You just need to plug it into any available usb port, wait maximum a couple of minutes, and it should work automatically. Once installed it will be managed by your computer as any internal floppy unit. In any case, if you need to download the drivers you can find them here:
