I took the throat plate off to clean my Imagine serger. When I try to put bak on it has to be pushed back down and is against a small piece, seems to be too close.

THROAT PLATES ARE HELD ON EACH SIDE WITH A SMALL PIECE OF METAL (SPRING). 1. PLACE THE PLATE AT AN ANGLE OF THE THROAT. 2. AT THE SAME TIME CAREFULLY PUSH EACH SPRING UNDER THE PLATE. 3. SLIDE THE PLATE TOWARDS THE AREA WHERE THE PLATE SHOULD FALL INTO THE LOWER POSITION.

My brother GS2520 sewing machine stopped working it went stiff, I could manually turn it when bubbin windrr was on bit now everything has stopped

Sometimes, there is a ball of thread and cloth stuck between the hook and throat plate. Remove the throat plate (silver plate with a hole the needle goes through), usually there are 2 screws on either side of the plate that need to be removed. Lift out the plate and check for thread and cloth in the area where the needle goes in the hook. If that's not it, have you ever oiled your machine? If the answer is no, then you could get the manual out and oil in the places where they say to. After oiling, move the hand wheel back and forth several times to see if it breaks free.

How do you remove the throat plate?

Not sure what you mean by 'throat plate' - do you mean the stitch plate/needle plate ? If-so, the best way is to drop the feed-dogs by pressing the button in the bottom of the handwheel end panel and you then press firmly on the back right-hand corner of the stitch plate - it should then pop-up on the opposite corner and you can remove it. It's held-in by two spring retainers. When replacing it, position it so that the hole in the front right corner of the plate is over the locating lug first and the right-hand side of the plate is in place, then press the left-hand side down into the grey plastic surround in the free-arm.

Hope that helps.

Please help my throat plate[needle plate] is banging loudly..the faster I sew the louder it knocks[throat plate against its base]..it's as if its too loose but see nowhere to tighten or screw it in...

I would like to help you but I do not know what model your machine is. Please answer this and I will try to help you. Knocking is usually lint built up under the throat plate and has to be removed to get it cleaned out.

My sewing machine is totally jamed up... the wheel wont even move

First off get out your sewing machine manual.

Then:
Remove the needle & if its the same one that got jammed - throw it away.
Remove your bobbin.
Remove the thread from the machine.
**** Turn off the machine.****

Now.
Following the instruction manual, unscrew & remove the throat plate (needle plate) from the machine.
Using the brush supplied or a clean paintbrush, remove all the lint from the machine. You have a front loading bobbin in your machine so also clean out this area.
Using a bit of the suction from the vacuum cleaner wouldnt hurt either.

Make sure that all fabric & thread from the fabric jam is removed.
It is more than likely that your needle was blunt or broken & the needle has actually pushed the fabric etc into the hole in the throat plate.

Once all that is done then put the throat plate back in, rethread your machine & reinsert the bobbin following the directions in your manual.

If after all that you still have a problem I would take your machine to a repair place & get them to look at it.""

The fabric does not feed properly.

Remove the throat plate and clean out the lint in between the feed dogs (teeth). Make sure the throat plate is not bent downwards where the needle goes through. Also, after removing the lint turn the machine over by hand, the feed dogs at their highest point should be about 2mm above the throat plate.
Also, try this link, there are many free books.
