How to remove the starter motor as it looks impossible to ge to the nuts to my old Ford Transit ,are there special tools .I don't want to make any small holes to have to remove it

    disconnect battery negertive terminal
undo and remove the 10mm (spanner size) nut and disconnect the solenoid wire

undo and remove the 13mm (spanner size) nut and disconnect the main starter lead and the alternator wiring

undo and remove the 13mm (spanner size) bolt through the lower mounting point on the starter, this has an earth lead on it, push the lead to one side

undo the top starter bolt (same as lower bolt) and remove the starter from the engine. The top bolt can't be removed from the starter with it in place, and it can't be fitted after you've put the motor back either so don't forget it!

How do i change my oil pan on my 2000 ford crown victoria. There seems to be a welded in crossmember holding the engine underneath do i have to remove the motor mounts and raise the engine to do the oil...

Yes you will have to raise the engine, also, and remove some other items that can be damaged when lifting. An engine hoist will be needed for this job. This text was taken from a 2000 crown vic workshop manual.
see pic for torque sequence. i could not locate a torque spec, so you will have to hand feel them. if it is a rubberized gasket do not over tighten as it will crush the gasket.

Hope this helps!

Rick

How do you remove the starter out of a 2003 ford focus?

Removal
1. Disconnect the car's negative battery cable.
2. Raise the car's front end with its floor jack and support it on axle stands; make sure you set the parking brake first.
3. Disconnect the air cleaner's outlet tube from the throttle body if your model has an SPI engine; loosen the hose clamp with pliers.
4. Unbolt and disconnect the power-steering pump using your wrench and set the pump aside. Do not disconnect or stretch the pump's lines. This should only be needed if your Focus has a 2.3 liter engine.
5. Unscrew the starter motor's mounting bolts using the wrench and then pull the motor off the dowel sticks on the transmission housing; you might need to angle the motor to remove it. Unscrew the nuts and disconnect the motor's wiring.

Installation
1. Connect the wiring and nuts to the replacement starter motor and slide it onto the dowel sticks, then tighten the mounting bolts with the wrench.
2. Reconnect all components that were disconnected--bolt the power-steering pump in place and connect the air cleaner outlet tube using its clamp.
3. Lower the car off the axle stands and reconnect the battery cable
