Re: touchpad on laptop

You should have a little icon in the right corner of your taskbar, right click on the touchpad icon and click enable.

If that does not work, right click on my computer icon, properties, hardwrae tab, device manager, look down list for mice and pointing devices, click on the + sign, select synaptics(if that's the make) and select uninstal.

Restart laptop and the drivers will automatically re install and should work as normal

Intermittantly the curser freezes then erratically moves around the screen by itself. I am unable to move or 'control' the curser so find it difficult to shut down to do a re-start. I usually have to hold...

Make sure that you are not placing the hand on the touchpad while typing.... This might be due to the drivers issue with the touchpad.. Try to unistall the drivers of touchpad from the device manager.. Then install a fresh copy from the dell website( If the issue is yet to be fixed please contact Acer to replace the touchpad....

When i'm typing, the cursor moves and i'm suddenly typing in the wrong place. i can't find any place in the control panel where i can adjust the touchpad settings.

this happens often .. try to go to Website of Manufacturer and down load latest driver for the touchpad then watch where it downloads to, click on the installl file this will have you reboot after install \
fixed a few like this OR some have disabled touchpad added a new infra red mouse and that stopped the creepy mouse curser syndrome :)

When i type the curser puts the text all over the place- what is the apparent problem

If you are "cursing" at the "cursor", you are the "curser".

Keep your thumbs and palms away from the touchpad.
Sometimes, you don't have to make contact with the touchpad
for it to move the mouse.

Or, your computer has a computer-virus, and some hacker has "remote-control" of your computer, and is moving your mouse-pointer.

Touchpad curser not moving

Ok your cat stepped on the button that shuts off the touch pad lol, around the edges there is a switch that turns it on and off, some shut it off when using a mouse, to avoid hitting both at once. Peace, Gym

Dell Latitude D630 Touchpad/Pointer

Do not check the check box as leaving the touchpad enabled while using an external mouse will not cause any harm.
