The Intake is gentle. It is not designed to have a great pull of air from the Cook Top.
TEST: Turn Exhaust Fan ON
Hold a sheet of your printer paper up to the INTAKE GRILLE (bottom). Will the sheet of paper stay? Held up only by the suction? If it does, Air Intake is OK.

The part number is 6172000381 and you can order that from Encompass (formerly Tritronics). Or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.
If you sub it, it should be within about 5 degrees C of the original.
