In the bios settings, there is a place that says load default settings. Do that, then load windows.

SOURCE: bios settings

?manual? when you go into your BIOS at the bottom of all generic BOIS consoles, there are F1 - F12 options. one of these will be: restore to failsafe settings" and the other "optimized settings" the rest you can tweak manually. as far as a manual goes you must be referring to the motherboards manual, and it only touches on BIOS and CMOS settings. good luck.

Windows\system32\drivers\viamraid.sys missing

If you have a windows install disk, then download active kill disk.

You need to erase the hard drive the right way, you don\'t format from NTFS to NTFS to erase a HDD.

Here is a free eraser, but you need to burn it to a **** and boot to it so it runs in DOS.
http://how-to-erase-hard-drive.com/downloadfree.htm

You can also go to Western digital and use the tools for HDD to erase.
Once the HDD is erased, your clear CMOS, reset the setting in the BIOS such as boot order, you should be able to reinstall windows and install all the correct drivers.

How to completely format an acer z5771

Okay assuming that your bios still comes up.. if so pop in the windows 7 disk and go to bio settings select that your cd drive or dvd drive whatever it is that you use as primary boot so that it detects the windows 7 disc. But if you don't get bio settings then what I would do is take hard drive out and take it to a friends or a different computer and have it as a slave or seconds hard drive then when you load up go to my computer right click that drive and find options for reformat or manually delete everything off that drive.

Hard drive is no good cant connect

Re-seat the hard drive, this may correct the problem.
If the go to the BIOS setting and check if the BIOS can detect the hard disk, if not the the hard disk is faulty.
To get your laptop working, replace the hard drive and install Windows on the new hard disk, then install the Acer laptop's device drivers and your programs.
To install the laptop's device drivers then -
Download the drivers from the Acer WEB site.Make sure you select the model of your laptop and the XP or Vista version ofthe drivers you that require and it matches the Windows version that isinstalled on your laptop. Use this link to get to the Acer support: -
http://www.acersupport.com/drivers_download.aspx
You may need to download the drivers using a computer that has Internet access, then copy these drivers to the Acer and install these drivers.

I am trying to replace my HD in my Acer aspire 5520 from 160GB (Hitachi of 5400 rpm and 8 MB) to 500GB (Hitachi of 7200 rpm and 16 MB). Acer sent the recovery cd. I used an enclosure hard drive to format...

first ..Im not sure I understood how you installed windows on the new Hdd..but I sow that you didn't do it in the laptop ..
the correct way is to see if the laptop is seeing the Hdd..and to install the windows directly on the hard disk installed into the laptop ...by using boot-able installation disk with the operation system ..Cause if you install it on another device ..or other way ..it will not recognize the devices present on the laptop ..and most likely to give you a blue screen ..and errors like the one you just got ..
Another thing ..you have to go to bios settings ..advanced st-up ..most likely ..and see the Hdd in there ..and on its settings to disable the AHCI function ..cause if you do not have a disk with sata drivers ..the laptop with the AHci function enabled will not see the hard disk ..and this is the error and what it means ...basically it didnt found the boot device ..cause of this function probably enabled in bios..It is not hard to disable ..just press F2 on start up ..and go to BIOS settings ..and look for the feature that allow you to see the Hdd and disk drive ..and set them u ..it is either the device .or the advanced settings..Im not remembering exactly ..its the second or the 3rd feature..and in there you will find a function named...AHCI...this have to be disabled in order that the laptop to see and function with the HDD ..otherwise it will say that the HDD is missing or the boot device is not present ..

Can't boot my Acer Aspire One

"Booting" is the process of starting up the computer's operating system (Windows). Settings in the mainboard memory (the BIOS) give the order in which devices are searched for the operating system. The usual order is hard drive first, then the CD drive, and finally over a network.

That clear-as-mud message means the mainboard tried to boot over a network connection and it didn't work. It's telling you to check your network cable or to put in a CD it can boot from.

There are two reasons this is happening. Either the system's BIOS settings have "network" as the first boot device, or (more likely) the operating system wasn't found on the hard drive and the BIOS went looking for a network connection. If the computer used to boot normally and you didn't change the BIOS settings, then something has happened to the hard drive to make it unbootable.

You can check the BIOS settings by pressing the "DELETE" key when you turn the computer on and the Acer logo screen appears. This starts the BIOS setup mode. If the boot order is correct with network boot as the last choice, there is a hardware cause. You might have picked up a virus or worm which has corrupted the disk. The hard drive or the mainboard may have gone bad.

If you have a recovery CD or DVD set, you can try restoring your system. You say it's brand-new, so you might try taking the computer back to the retailer to see if their technical support people can help. Or you can contact Acer to set up service for the computer.

Hope this helps you understand what's happening and that you get the trouble straightened out quickly!

Setting new hard drive up on acer 5315 series

Hi,
If the Back Up Disk you mean the 2 Recovery Disks that you have burned from the eRecovery in Acer.

You have to enable D2D Recovery on the BIOS Setup, it's usually on the second page of the BIOS Setup on a Acer Aspire Laptop.

Please Rate, Thanks

Setting up a new hard disk and operating system on an Acer Power SC

There should be more than one disk, as the other will be drivers, all you need to do is press F2 or Del to get into your pc's bios settings and change the first boot device to your cd drive, insert your acer disc into the drive, then save the bios settings, restart the pc ,then, when prompted on screen to press enter to boot from cd; do so.

You should then follow instructions to set up windows on the 'C' drive as is default and it may need to reformat in NTFS.
