Could be a bad switch or it could be that it needs adjustment. Take something non-conductive and press in on the switch a little bit. If everything locks up, clicks or whatever, it needs adjusting. If you press in on the switch and nothing happens it is a bad switch. Go to your local appliance parts store and get another switch. They probably have someone there who could install it for you.

Ntw4650yqo lid lock quite working how do you bypass

connect the wires at the micro switch together
as the lid lock is a safety requirement it is far better to have it fixed rather than bypassing it.

If its a micro switch it will not lock lid when running so machine will continue to run when lid is raised if it is bypassed. Most locks on washing machines are anti-child devices so might not be good idea if you have children.Machine will run and switch off when program finishes.

I have an older maytag commercial washer . The motor hums when it is ready to spin after the rince cycle. If I lift the lid immediatly and wait about 2 minutes, then close the lid the machine starts and...

The lid activates a micro switch. If it is not pushed down properly it waont spin. This switch is meant to inhibit the spinning process for safety reasons.

I can't get washer to start. I believe the top

Washing machines have a safety switch on the lid. If the lid isn't shut, if won't run. You may have upset the safety switch. Depending on the machine, it should either have a micro switch that is tripped by the lid or the lid will have a tab that hits a switch as the lid closes... be sure to listen for a positive click ... you may try bending the hinge a bit to make proper contact too.

Washing machine fills with water but will not go on to the wash cycle . The machine just fills with water and stops. Have to bail out the water by hand.

Your lid switch needs to be reset or replaced. Open the control console to access the lid switch. Check the fuse for continuity. Check the alignment of the lid switch for contact with the micro switch.
If these cannot be reset they must be replaced.

The washing maching does not agitate or move through the wash cycle. It will only fill and then I must move the dial to spin so that it will empty and spin.

Their is a plunger on the lid switch that hits the lid switch and there is a small barrel fuse and a white micro switch. 12008d9.jpegRemove the micro switch and look at it the little red button is not poped out on broken ones. I would bet that is the problem 207166 is the part number.

Hi, check lid switch, open lid, check carefully locate lid switch, or lift top of machine, get access to lid switch, could be broken or faulty, also check all wiring harnesses, there could be loose connection, check timer connections, all other connection, but first check your lid switch. when you lift lid, look for small slot, on machine around area lid covers, use something to press and release lid switch, preferable something non conductive, i use a small screwdriver. it could be just broken / faulty lid switch, or loose connection, you can check yourself, or let someone check for you, that's no big deal, always switch off power, before doing any repairs. good luck.
