SOURCE: door will not stay closed

Remove the cover and take a look at the limit switch assembly. It pretty much snaps together and it sounds like a part has come loose.

SOURCE: track rail bends when closing the door

I think you need to take the cover off the motor unit and watch the limit switch assembly in operation. Takes only a few seconds to see how it works and see if it is damaged in some way. You need to turn the down limit adjustment in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover to stop the door sooner. I think the down force adjustment on the rear of the motor unit is out of adjustment also. This adjustment affects the safety of the opener and should only be adjusted high enough to consistently close the door.

SOURCE: My Craftsman GDO model # 139.53990D does not open

You need to remove the cover of the motor unit and check the drive gear. It sounds like it is stripped. Your explanation is a little confusing though. You say it moves all the way back to the cover protection bolt and then you say it won't open.

SOURCE: new Sears craftman 1/2 horsepower garage door

The 'down limit' on the side of the motor housing is what needs to be adjusted. Turn this control in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. I usually adjust this so it stops short by quite a bit and then fine tune it.

The motor runs but the chain does not move, we just had it worked on 1 month ago and now this, please help

IF THE MOTOR IS JAMMED (JUST HUMS) LOOSEN THE CHAIN AND ADJUST THE LIMITS AND TIGHTEN CHAIN.

IF THE MOTOR ACTUALLY RUNS AND THE CHAIN DOES NOT MOVE THE DRIVE GEARS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY SELL A KIT THAT INCLUDES THE BUSHINGS AND SHAFT. DO NOT BUY THE SMALLER KIT AND DO NOT REPLACE ONLY ONE GEAR (THE OLDER WORN GEAR WILL CHEW UP THE NEW GEAR) THIS MAY BE WHAT YOU HAD DONE - IF SO CALL THE SERVICE GUY THAT DID THE POOR REPAIR AND HE SHOULD REPLACE BOTH GEARS UNDER HIS SERVICE WARRANTY. ANYONE WORKING ON THESE SHOULD KNOW BETTER.

GOOD LUCK.

Garage Door Opener Will Open But Not Close

Your machine is jammed, meaning the carriage part or trolley that has the swingarm attached to the door has went further then it,s limit! your trolley that has the chain or belt connected to it may be jammed against the stop bolt that is just before the powerhead of your opener. In order to get it to operate again you must loosen the chain and take some tension off of it , you should also remove the stop bolt at this point sine a loose chain can add an extra inch or two to the travel limit when the door is coming up or going down . Once the bolt is removed your garage door opener should work again , be shure to retighten the chain after removing the stop bolt and check your travel limits in the up and down position! Hope this helps you in getting it to work again! Glenn

The garage door closes and then opens up again, I have to close it several times before it secures. There are no obstructions. Is this a sensitivity problem?

More than one thing can cause this type problem.

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is a door sensor problem. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is not flickering ever so slightly.

If the door reverses when it hits the floor it is a sign that the door is traveling a bit to far. The adjustment for this is on the side of the motor unit. Turn the 'down limit' in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Some tweaking will probably be necessary.

Door goes down then right back up again

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses you door sensors may have been bumped and are no longer pointing at one another.

If the door hits the floor and then reverses it is traveling too far. Locate the down limit control on the side of the motor unit and turn it in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Some tweaking will be necessary.

Our garage door travels all the way down and then reverses on it's own. What adjustment do I need to make with the tension or travel and how do I do it? We've fixed it before, but I can't find the manual.

Chamberlain 4200C doesnt open or close properly

You did not sync the chain correctly. If you have not touched the travel limits, take chain off sprocket and run door to either up or down position. Put chain back on with trolley in up or down, accordingly. Tension and make final travel adjustments.

Door travels all the way to the floor but comes back up

If when the door reverses the main lights flash 10 times you have a bad or misaligned door sensor. If the door hits the floor and reverses but the main lights do not flash then the door is traveling too far. On the side of the motor unit you will find the 'down limit' control. Turn this in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Some tweaking may be necessary.

Garage door won't go down because of interference

IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE JOINTS IN THE RAIL THE TROLLEY TRAVELS ON THEY USSUALLY ONLY GET OUT OF ALIGNMENT WHEN THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE SECTIONS TOGETHER ARE LOOSE.
