I just purchased a Dyson big ball multi floor canister, and it is really hard to push on my new carpet at home, any fix?

i just got rid of my dyson dc 39 multifloor big ball vacuum. im guessing you have a high pile rug which the vacuum is not mostly intended for it works best with low pile carpets. that said there is a way, turn the brush part upside down so that the brushes are facing you,, at the front their are two screws if you unscrew them you will be able to lift up just the front long part of the brushroll, it has the option of being screwed on high or low so that you get better vacuuming from high pile carpets good luck

We had an older dyson vacuum that worked great until it had to be replaced and now our new one it works great on short carpet but is very difficult to push on thicker carpet.

Hi Ronnie, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty using your new Dyson vacuum on this particular type of deeper-pile carpet. It's possible your new machine has higher suction at the cleaner head, and this could mean it needs slightly higher push-force on certain carpets with deeper, denser pile, or thick underlay. You may find it helps to use the vacuum with the brush bar switched - carpet manufacturers will sometimes advise vacuuming deep-pile carpets in this way.

However, I would encourage you to get in touch with us directly so we can take some further details about the issue. When you have your Dyson vacuum easily to hand, please call the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). Our experts will be happy to discuss your concerns.

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

Why does my kirby shake ?

If your Kirby is just sitting on a hard surface and is shaking, something is either on the fan or brushroller putting it out of alignment. Here is how to change the fan / impeller if broken.
how to change Kirby fan / impeller.

If it shakes while you are pushing against the carpeting you can try adjusting the height of the brush until it is just touching the carpeting. Some thick pile carpeting the Kirby will still shake or jump on, the strong suction causes it to trip over the thick pile that is lifted up when vacuuming.

Bought a brand new dyson animal and it is impossible to push thru our new carpeting. I set to the highest pile but still can't push it. Seems fine on lesser pile carpeting.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties using your DC14 Animal on this particular carpet. It might help to check you have your brush control adjusted to the correct setting - you can find out how to do this in the user guide supplied with your cleaner. In case you don't have this to hand, you can download a copy here:

http://media.dyson.com/downloads/us/floorcare/manuals/dc14_opmanual_usa2007.pdf

You may also want to contact your carpet manufacturer to check it's suitable for cleaning with a vacuum cleaner equipped with a revolving brush. Manufacturers sometimes recommend cleaning certain types of carpeting using suction only.

If you have any further queries about using or maintaining your Dyson vacuum cleaner, please get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to provide the information and assistance you need. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).
