How do I get local channels when my Roku is connected to my TV

The roku is a one way streaming device and cannot see channels that your cable tv can see. It streams online content to your tv.
However if you live in a major metropolitan area 1 or more of your local channels may be available online, you can set those up in your private channels area then searching for local channels in your area to add as private channels.

Unable to pick up local ''free'' channels following digital change over. Using RCA DTA800 converter and Phillips 2750/27 antenna. Can pick up only one local channel, but signal loss is more often the...

first of all, make sure all your connections are secure and threaded all the way in. Next, go to the main menu and press 5 (configuration) and press 1 (search for channels) if this doesn't work, press 4(signal strength meter) and see how strong your signal is. You may just need to re-position your antennae. If all else fails try system reset(number 5) and repeat search for channels. I've had similiar experiences with mine but I have a 62% signal strength and still get 20-something channels. Hope this helps.
