So when the cycle first starts, it will fill and agitate and spin. But then on the rinse cycle it stops?

Our whirlpool washers agitator doesn't agitate during the spin or wash cycles

I would asume you mean it does not adjatate during the wash or rinse cycles. If it fills and you can here the motor run after it fills/then it drains and does not spin and fills again for the rinse but does not adjatate ? I would guess you have a broken motor coupler ..Most shops will do that repair for under 100.00....If I had more info I could be more sure...anyhow if more info is needed just repost....I hope I help you if I did please give a vote...thank you good luck

P.S mod # helps so much

Whirlpool top load washer no low-speed agitation. The unit fills, starts the wash cycle with normal agitation, but after a few minutes it just sits there soaking until the it's time to drain/spin. Drains...

Either the wire going to motor for non working speed is loose or damaged, or motor is bad. It could also possibly be timer not sending power to motor for that speed.

Fws445rf1 washer didnt stop filling and flooded my apt and it doesnt aggitate when it is washing, the whole thing just spins inside instead of moving back and forth, what are the most likely reasons for...

if it's a top-loader, then the water level sensor is probably failed! if an older machine- there's a plastic tube (which you can't see from the outside) that measures the column of water in the tub of your machine, and triggers the agitate and spin, and rinse cycles of your machine.
when it's in wash cycle the water level is lower, then it spins and drains and the rinse cycle pumps in more water (makes sense!), then drains & spins, then re-rinses at the same water level. your water level sensor is defective, probably. allowing it to over-fill.
it detects the water level as 'spin' and doesn't agitate!
my theory- no guaranty! if it's old get a new washer or a good used one! this is not a problem i've encountered, just a guess. good luck!

Agitator only turns clockwise (Whirlpool top load)

You will need to replace the dogs under the agitator, they are pretty easy. Just pop the cap, take out the center bolt, remove it the dogs are 4 teeth looking items.

Whirlpool Washer will not progress to the rince cycle.

that is either a problem with the timer , or with the cold water hose at the back of the machine, see the following:

I quote from : The cycle doesn't advance

The cycle doesn't advanceWhen the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It'sthe timer, if your washing machine fills with water and beginsagitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spincycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • Itmay be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills withwater, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinsewater. See There's no cold water.
