KitchenAid KFPM770 motor runs 3 seconds and stops

Determine first if it really is the motor. Does it only cut out if loaded or will it happen without any load? Remove all bowls and blades, plug it in and turn the power on and press the on button. With something plastic press the small white button that is in the middle above the switch panel and normally hidden by the bowl. This is the safety cutout switch avtivated by the bowl, lid and pusher being in position. Does the motor run while the button is depressed or does it again cut out after a short time but with button still depressed. If it doesn't cut out it's likely that wear in the complicated mechanisms in the lid and bowl handle are releasing the cutout switch with small vibrations of motor running. I figure out which one to replace by swapping out one of the 2 parts for a new one as I try to carry both parts in stock for that purpose.

Does it work though? If the light is staying on after you cut power then maybe a genie is living in there :)). Other than that it could be a bulb with bad or loose connection. I do know those touch pads behave weird if there was a power cut/surge. Mine did that bit it still works. I'm just waiting to see if a light blows or if some other short happens. Anthony

Kitchen Aid dryer hums when start button pushed. I can get it to run if I physically spin the tumbler and if there is a very light load inside.

That is a bad sign. If the buzzing starts when you press the start button and stops when you release its almost safe to say that the motor has a dead short or grounded out and causing that to happen. You can check the start switch by getting a multimeter and with the dryer unplugged take the wires off the switch, place a lead on each pin and press the start with meter set for continuity. If it shows continuity when presed and stops when released your motor is shot and needs to be replaced.
Now if you press the start button and the machine starts to hum and continues to hum its possible that something has gotten caught in the blower wheel and binding the motor up. Depending on the make and model the location and access to it vaaries.
If you can turn the drum and then the dryer starts you have a bad motor. The way the dryer works is when you initially push the start button, electricity is sent to the start winding, or stator, of the motor. This will in turn start the motor turning. From there the stator will drop out of the electrical process and at the same time the run winding, or rotor, will take over and the motor will continie to run. Your stator is damaged, has a burn spot, etc so by you turning the drum, the belt around the drum is moved which is attached to the motor pulley. You basically take the place of the stator. Long story short, you have a bad motor.

I have a KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, model KP26M1XBS, which no longer works. I was mixing pretzel dough and the mixer stopped turning. I initially just thought it overheated...

Don't worry about the Worm Gear for now. You have to make sure that the Motor
is fully functional by itself: Remove the Transmission Housing Cover (4 screws) and
the two screws holding the Motor down. Lift the Motor off the Worm Gear and set it
on the side (be careful of AC voltages from the Motor and Control Assembly).
Select Stir setting and observe the motor shaft. Is the Motor running? If it is,
Select other speeds to see how the motor performs.
With the motor now fully functional, you can now check the Worm Gear Follower
for worn out/broken teeth. Remember the motor drives the Worm Gear, it then in
turn drives the Worm Gear Follower (you may have to remove the grease to see it)
The Bevel Gear sits right on top of the Follower and drives the Attachment Gear.

My ice maker is working, but it will not dispense. Light comes on when the dispenser is pressed, but motor does not run. Can't see anything physically wrong. Water dispenser works fine.

Its got to be the switch. mine stopped working last night, after reviewing the wiring diagrams it is a simple circuit. if the motor is not turning in the cubed or crushed mode and it is not locked out it has to be the switch. I will take mine apart a little later this morning. I expect to find that the micro switch has failed. should be an inexpensive fix

Blinking lights on KitchenAid blender

Alternating blinking lights on a Kitchenaid blender indicate a bad circuit board which is unable to run the motor properly. Unplug the blender, take the jar off, and turn the spindle by hand. Then plug it back in. If it does not work properly, try a different outlet (perhaps not in the kitchen). If nothing works, the blender needs to be repaired.
